Lagos State Government Shuts Alade Market Over ‘Sanitation, Environmental Offences’

The Lagos State government has made a new announcement about a market closure. The government announced the closure of another popular market in the state, Alade Market in the Onigbongbo area of the state “over several sanitation and environmental offences.”  The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who announced the sealing of the market on Wednesday on his X platform (formerly Twitter) handle said that the market was closed for lack of waste bins, filthy environment, illegal burning of refuse by the roadside, indiscriminate dumping of refuse and failure to comply with the rules of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
