Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, candidly admitted that he isn’t a “perfect musician.” In a recent interview on the Zero Conditions podcast, the ‘Obapluto’ crooner expressed humility about his musical abilities, stating that he might not be a flawless singer or songwriter but thrives on vibes and ‘street lingual.’
Shallipopi went on to reveal that his recognition of his own limitations was a driving factor behind signing artists who excel in areas where he may fall short. He emphasized his commitment to collaborating with individuals more adept at singing, ensuring that his newly-launched record label, Plutomania Records, brings together diverse talents.
In his own words, “I never wanted to sign anybody at first, but the thing is that I know people that are better than me at singing. I cannot sign somebody that I’m better than. I’m not that good at singing, but I know how to maintain my sound.”
Shallipopi positioned himself as a “vibe artist” who integrates street lingual into his music, creating a unique connection with fans who resonate with his style. He also described his musical genre as more centered around talking than traditional rap.
