Abuja, Nigeria - The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced the lifting of economic sanctions previously imposed on four member states, namely Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea.

The decision was reached during an extraordinary summit held on Saturday, February 24, in Abuja. The summit focused on addressing political, security, and peace conditions within the ECOWAS subregion.

While the economic sanctions have been lifted, ECOWAS emphasized that political and targeted sanctions against the affected countries will remain in place.

Further details regarding the decision are expected to be released shortly, following the conclusion of the summit discussions.
