In a significant development in the ongoing security operations in Kaduna State, troops from Sector 6 of Operation Whirl Punch have successfully neutralized a notorious bandit known as Daushe during a special fighting patrol in Giwa Local Government Area.
The incident was confirmed by Samuel Aruwan, the overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, in a statement issued on Sunday, June 16, 2024. According to the statement, the troops conducted a coordinated operation starting from Sabon Layi and progressing to Kidandan in Giwa LGA.
"During the patrol, the troops encountered a bandit attempting to flee on a motorcycle near the outskirts of Kidandan village," the statement read. "In the ensuing engagement, the bandit, identified as Daushe, was swiftly neutralized."
Further verification confirmed that Daushe was an associate of the recently eliminated bandit kingpin, Buharin Yadi, whose demise occurred just days earlier in a similar security operation within Giwa LGA.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed appreciation for the troops' dedication and congratulated Major General MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, for overseeing the successful operation.
"The Governor commended the troops for their relentless efforts and urged them to sustain the momentum in the ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorist elements from the area," the statement concluded.
The latest operation underscores ongoing efforts by security forces in Kaduna State to maintain peace and security, targeting criminal elements responsible for unrest in the region.
