Suraj Oyewale, popularly known as #SirJarus in online circles, has leveled serious accusations against his wife, Mrs. Oyewale Ayoola, alleging that she consulted a herbalist, Mayowa Adesoga, following his intention to marry a second wife under Islamic rights.
In a series of social media posts, Suraj detailed his frustration and discovery, stating, "I did everything possible to placate her when I decided to exercise my Islamic right to marry a second wife. I knew it was natural for a woman to feel jealous."
He further claimed to have given substantial financial gifts to Ayoola, including a N5 million sum in April to support her business, N700,000 for jewelry, and N1.2 million for land in her hometown, Ilorin, among others. Despite these efforts, Suraj alleges Ayoola still sought the services of a herbalist, which he discovered through intercepted voice notes.
"This was the deal breaker for me," Suraj asserted. "I found fetish items in her possession, which shocked me deeply. That was when I decided to take decisive action."
Suraj defended his actions, stating, "I tried my best for your sister. She has two SUVs for her movement in Lagos. I pleaded and begged, but she frustrated me into overreacting a couple of times."
Regarding previous allegations of abuse reported to the Lagos Domestic and segxwal Violence Agency (DSVA), Suraj maintained his stance, stating, "Nobody victimized her. She victimized herself."
The Lagos DSVA, responding to the incident, affirmed their commitment to investigating domestic violence cases, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards such acts.
Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, Head of the Public Affairs Unit at Lagos DSVA, stated, "Domestic violence in any form is unacceptable, and the Lagos State Government maintains a zero-tolerance stance against it. We have referred this to the Commissioner of Police (Gender Desk Department) to ensure investigation commences."
