A suspected kidnapper, Umar Adam, has begged for leniency after being caught by residents of the NEPA community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Adam, who had abducted two teenagers, admitted to the crime and pleaded with the police for mercy, claiming it was his first involvement in kidnapping.
The suspect had initially demanded a ransom of ₦20 million but later accepted ₦1.5 million to release the two victims—a boy and a girl. According to his confession, he was on his way to return the teenagers to their families when local residents apprehended him.
Speaking during his parade at the Plateau State Police Command, Adam expressed regret for his actions.
Reports indicate that Umar was nearly lynched by the angry community members before the police intervened and rescued him. Authorities are continuing
