The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an 18-year-old named Michael Ogbogu for allegedly blackmailing a 17-year-old girl with her Nood pictures.
The arrest was made on September 11, 2024, following a report by the victim's family. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the command, Ogbogu, who was a former schoolmate of the victim at Igbo Efon College in Ibeju Lekki, captured Nood screenshots during a video conversation without the girl's consent.
SP Hundeyin revealed that Ogbogu used these images to blackmail the victim, threatening to release them unless his demands were met.
“The suspect used the images to demand more n**e content, s3x, and money from the victim and her parents,” the PPRO said.
“The suspect was arrested and he has made confessional statements. The case is under investigation and further development will be communicated.”
“The suspect’s actions are unacceptable, and we will ensure justice is served," he added.
The police have reiterated their commitment to protecting young people from such exploitation and have urged the public to report similar incidents. The case is under investigation, and further actions will be taken based on the findings.
