
In a significant operation on September 18, 2024, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raided the residences of Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Talba, the Sarkin Yamma of Badagry West LCDA, in Lagos. The raid resulted in the recovery of a substantial quantity of cannabis, totaling 226 kilograms, linked to Talba's family.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, although Alhaji Talba remains at large, the operation yielded significant findings. At his residence in the Ashipa area of Seme Badagry, authorities discovered 93 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 57.6 kg, hidden by his first wife, Asma’u Bashiru, aged 35, and their son, Sadat Bashiru, 22.
A subsequent search at another property in the Aketegbo area uncovered an additional 302 compressed blocks of cannabis, weighing 168.6 kg, concealed by Talba's second wife, Hauwa Bashir, 42.
The NDLEA has intensified efforts to apprehend Alhaji Talba, emphasizing its commitment to tackling drug trafficking in the region. The agency continues to investigate the extent of the operation and the involvement of other individuals.
