A 65-year-old American man has been arrested and charged with tampering with evidence following the death of a Nigerian man in his McKinney, Texas, home.
The Collin County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Mark Horak on Tuesday, linking him to the investigation into the death of 31-year-old Olutoyosi Molomo, who was found dead in Horak's home in July 2024.
Authorities first became aware of the situation on July 31, 2024, when an unidentified individual at a local emergency room reported that there was an unconscious man with a head injury at Horak's residence on Billy Mitchell Drive. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered Molomo deceased.
The Collin County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Molomo had died from a gunshot wound. According to the sheriff’s office, evidence suggested that Horak "knowingly altered the crime scene" after Molomo's death, leading to the tampering charge.
Horak now faces a second-degree felony charge for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Molomo’s death are ongoing, with law enforcement continuing to gather evidence to determine what led to the tragic incident.
