The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Damilare Ajiboye, widely known as "Na God," a wanted drug kingpin who had successfully evaded capture for over a year.

Ajiboye's arrest took place on Wednesday, following a meticulously coordinated operation by the NDLEA. The agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the news in a statement on Sunday from Abuja, highlighting the significance of the operation.

The arrest followed a raid on a warehouse in the Akala, Mushin area of Lagos, where officers recovered 1,101 kilograms of "Ghana Loud," a potent strain of cannabis, on September 4, 2023.

Babafemi also disclosed that Ajiboye's capture in Ogun State occurred at a bank, after a comprehensive investigation by the NDLEA’s Directorate of Assets and Financial Investigation. Authorities traced and froze 20 bank accounts connected to the suspect, leading to his eventual arrest.

Ajiboye's apprehension marks a major victory in the NDLEA's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.
