Photos of Charniel Amanzie Moses, a police officer accused of fatally stabbing Kaduna resident Adekunle Oduwole, have surfaced online. Moses, who describes himself on Facebook as a singer, poet, songwriter, and importation coach, allegedly killed Oduwole during an altercation at J11 Lounge, Kaduna, on September 22, 2024.
According to a family source, the incident occurred between 10:50 pm and 11:00 pm. Inspector Moses reportedly entered the lounge searching for a woman he claimed was his girlfriend. After finding her, he allegedly assaulted her. In a bid to escape, the woman sought refuge with Oduwole, who was nearby. As Oduwole tried to protect her, Moses reportedly accused him of being involved with the woman, a claim that remains unsubstantiated.
Without warning, the officer allegedly stabbed Oduwole with a jackknife. After the attack, Oduwole managed to get on a commercial motorcycle and rushed to Sabon Tasha General Hospital. However, due to a strike by health workers, he was unable to receive treatment. He then directed the motorcyclist to take him to St. Gerald Hospital but tragically died at the gate before he could receive help.
Witnesses, including a local Suya vendor, confirmed that the officer’s girlfriend had earlier refused Moses’s invitation to hang out, only for him to later find her at the lounge. The officer, who serves in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had reportedly traveled to Kaduna for the weekend.
In response to the incident, Oduwole’s family has filed a petition with the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, through their lawyer Deji Adeyanju, demanding that legal action be taken against Moses. They are also calling for transparency and cooperation from the police throughout the investigation process.
When contacted, Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer Mansir Hassan confirmed that an investigation is underway and that Moses is already in custody. A police source further confirmed the arrest, stating, “The police are done with the investigation, and the deceased's family should bring their lawyer to charge him to court.”
As the case unfolds, the public and Oduwole’s family await justice for the tragic incident.
