Musa Abdullahi, a 35-year-old resident of Sokoto State, was apprehended by the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps on suspicion of providing food and other supplies to armed bandits operating in Ekiti State.
Officer Adeleye Abiodun, head of the Communications Department for the Amotekun Corps, confirmed the arrest in a statement released over the weekend. Abdullahi, who resides in Shasha, Akure, Ondo State, was taken into custody on Monday, October 7, 2024, around 6:30 PM in Ise Ekiti.
The arrest followed a tip-off that prompted operatives to patrol the Oritan Forest Reserve in Ise-Ekiti. During their search, they located Abdullahi and detained him.
Upon questioning, Abdullahi reportedly confessed to his role as a food supplier for the suspected Fulani and Bororo bandits that frequent the area.
The suspect, along with evidence gathered during the operation, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police at the Ise-Orun Division in Ise-Ekiti for further investigation.
