The Edo State Police have apprehended two suspects, Prince Anthony Uwa, 31, and William Ugiagdor, 38, in connection with alleged conspiracy, threats to life, and arson directed at a local woman, Evelyn Akpan.
Commissioner of Police Nemi Iwo made the announcement on Sunday in a statement issued by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu.
According to the report, the arrests stemmed from a complaint lodged by Akpan on September 30, 2024. She reported receiving threatening text messages from an unknown individual, demanding a payment of N1.5 million, with threats to burn down her home and harm her family if she failed to comply.
In response to the complaint, police operatives utilized intelligence-gathering techniques to trace and apprehend the suspects, both of whom have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Yamu urged the youth of Edo State to refrain from criminal activities and instead focus on pursuing legitimate opportunities through education and skill development, which can positively impact their communities.
