
Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and recovered ₦547,000 from ransom money, according to Command spokesperson Ramhan Nansel.
Nansel disclosed the arrest on Sunday, revealing that the recovered amount was part of the ransom linked to the kidnapping of Ciroman Fulani in Arugbadu village, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
"On October 27, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., operatives from the 38 PMF Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon Division arrested Abdulkarim Zakari, a resident of Konba village in Wamba LGA, in connection with a kidnapping under investigation," Nansel reported. "During interrogation, Zakari admitted to being part of the gang responsible for the abduction of Ciroman Fulani, for which they collected ₦5 million in ransom. Zakari’s share was ₦1.2 million."
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has since ordered a manhunt for the remaining gang members. Nadada also praised the officers for their ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
