A 20-year-old boy who identified himself as Ekene has narrated how he and his friend, killed a woman in a bush in Oliogo community, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State while trying to steal her motorcycle.
The suspect and the friend Stanley also 20 years of age, were paraded at the State Police headquarters, Asaba, by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe on Tuesday.
Ekene said he felt bad about the dastardly act and had to tell his mother about it when he got home.
Saying that they met their victim on the farm, he disclosed that “When we sighted her, she was eating on the farm. When we got there, my friend took off his shirt and tried to strangle her with it.
“As she was being strangled, the women fell and tears started coming from her eyes; then she said ‘Aboy’, because she recognised him.
“The moment she mentioned ‘Aboy’, my friend took a cutlass and cut her on the head and blood started flowing. At that time, my friend was telling me to look for the key to her motorcycle.
“When we could find the key of the motorcycle, we ran away. When l got home, l told my mother what happened and she told me to meet members of the vigilante team and the vigilante took us to the police station.”
On why he didn’t stop his friend from macheting the woman, he said “I asked my friend what he would do if the woman died and he told me if he didn’t kill her, she would report us.
“I really felt bad when l saw tears flowing from her eyes.”
On his part, his friend, Stanley, said “We didn’t intend to kill her, we only wanted to steal her motorcycle.”
