The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended Private Bara’u Tajuddeen, a soldier assigned to the 19 Special Force Brigade in Maiduguri, on suspicion of stealing military ammunition and anti-aircraft rounds, allegedly intended for sale to bandits. Tajuddeen, identified by service number 22NA/82/3441, was detained at a Maiduguri motor park as he prepared to travel to Kano.
According to sources close to the investigation, Tajuddeen had been under surveillance prior to his arrest. Officers intercepted him while he was reportedly transporting the stolen ammunition, believed to be destined for illegal sale. A police insider revealed, "He was caught in possession of military-grade ammunition and anti-aircraft rounds, and evidence suggests he intended to sell them to bandits."
The arrest of Private Tajuddeen has raised serious concerns over internal security within the armed forces, particularly in areas like Maiduguri, where troops are actively engaged in anti-terrorism operations.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to release further details on Tajuddeen's alleged connections with criminal groups. Police officials have underscored their commitment to addressing threats from within and are likely to press severe charges against him if the allegations are confirmed.
