Social media activist VeryDarkMan, has condemned the recent developments involving Bolt Driver, Stephen Abuwatseya and House of Representatives member Alex Ikwechegh, who represents Aba North/South of Abia State.
It should be noted that on October 28, 2024, Ikwechegh allegedly assaulted Abuwatseya, who had come to deliver a package to him.
A viral video of the altercation at Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, showed the politician repeatedly slapping and abusing Abuwatseya, who had asked Ikwechegh to come outside to pick up a package of snails for delivery.
Nigerians strongly criticised the incident and demanded for an investigation.
Following an interrogation at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Ikwechegh was granted ₦500,000 bail by the Kuje Magistrates’ Court.
He was charged with three counts: abuse of office, assault, and threat to life.
A hearing in the lawsuit was scheduled for November 8, 2024.
Verydarkman was actively involved in making sure Stephen Abuwatseya was given justice and fair compensation after learning about the incident.
However in a new turn of events, Abuwatseya apologised to Ikwechegh in a video that was made public on Thursday, November 7, 2024, saying that he was sorry for provoking the lawmaker and requesting forgiveness from Nigerians.
Verydarkman responded to the development in a new video on Friday, recounting how he and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, attempted to hold Alex Ikwechegh accountable for his alleged misconduct.
VDM stated that Ikwechegh and his associates contacted them to assure reimbursement for the driver after the issue gained attention online.
VeryDarkMan requested that the cab driver be compensated with N20 million and a car, whereas the lawmaker proposed a lower amount of N5 million and a car, which was subsequently agreed upon.
The driver allegedly developed a covert relationship with the politician behind their backs, according to the activist.
He expressed his disgust with the cabbie’s apologies, which he considered was compelled.
He underlined Stephen Abuwatseya’s decision to turn against people who backed him during the crisis.
The driver’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju & Partners, has withdrew their legal representation following the apologies.
Captioning the post on his Instagram page, he wrote, “Can you imagine this?the bolt driver that was a$$vlT3d by the house of reps member hon ALEX MASCOT IKWECHEGH has come out to apologize to his oppr3$ $Or, maybe i should just tell everyone what we went through for this mumu to get justice, since he has chose to r!d:cl3 his generation”
