Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo, the Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday failed to participate in the Vice Presidential debate organised by Network News 24 (NN24). The debate, which took place at the Conference Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja last night was however attended by the Vice Presidential candidates of the three leading opposition parties. They include: Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Mr. Fola Adeola of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Chief Executive of NN24, organizers of the debate Anthony Dara, said there was no word from the PDP informing them of the inability of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Party to attend the debate. All the three other vice presidential candidates chided the ruling PDP for refusing to take part in the debate, describing it as a manifestation of the party’s culture of impunity.

“It shows the PDP’s culture of impudence and impunity by the ruling PDP which has no regards for basic norms”, said Fola Adeola of the ACN.

On his part Pastor Bakare said it was unfortunate that the PDP’s culture of impunity was happening under the watchful eyes of President Jonathan “on whose behalf we rose to fight impunity in Nigeria.”

The three vice Presidential aspirants who took part in the debate addressed issues relating to economy, religion as well as the forthcoming April polls.
