Controversial activist, Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending five days in detention.
Recall that VeryDarkMan was arrested last Friday after visiting a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) branch in Abuja with his mother to address some suspicious withdrawals from her account.
His arrest quickly caused a stir online, with many Nigerians, including public figures, calling for his release.
Taking to his X page, VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, announced his release news on Wednesday evening.
He also gave shout-outs to activist Omoyele Sowore, and political figures like Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, along with singer Davido and several opposition lawmakers for showing support.
The lawyer thanked the EFCC chairman as well for being open to discussions throughout the ordeal.
Adeyanju wrote,
“Thank you Egbon @YeleSowore. Thank you HE Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Davido, opposition lawmakers, etc. I must also thank the chairman of EFCC for indulging and listening to all my concerns since on Friday last week and his team. The struggle continues.”
