Police nab 4 kidnap suspects, rescue victims

Luck yesterday ran out on four suspected kidnappers including a 20-year-old lady when they were arrested at their hideout in Ifite, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State by the police who also rescued their victims.
They had abducted their victims, Jerry Ugwu and his five-year-old daughter, Lota last Saturday at their residence, No I, Jerry Ugwu Street, Abakpa Nike, Enugu in Enugu State and brought them to their hideout in Ifite.

The suspects, Chibuzor Iloh, 19 from Ugwuoba, Enugu State; Sandra Okoye, 20 from Enugwu-Agidi, Anambra State; Afamefuna Ani, 28 from Nkanu, Enugu State and Asamota Paul, 25 from Benin City, Edo State met their waterloo when on a tip-off, a combined team of men of Anambra and Enugu states police commands stormed their hideout and arrested them.
Daily Sun gathered that the victim, Ugwu, who was shot in the leg by the kidnappers, was rescued in a bush after Miracle Junction along Ifite Road, Awka.
He was brought to the Anambra State Police Command headquarters with his daughter and the suspects after the rescue operation.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the suspects and their victims were taken away to Enugu, the Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, said the team from Enugu liaised with the B Division of the state command to carry out the operation.

He said: “Just this morning, information from Enugu State Police Command got to us that one Jerry Ugwu that was kidnapped with his daughter, Lota last Saturday were kept somewhere in a hideout in the state.
“The team from Enugu liaised with the B Division and stormed the hideout of the suspects around Ifite Road, Awka where they arrested four of the kidnappers including a female.

“Some arms were also recovered from them and the suspects owned up to the crime and have been taken with the victims to Enugu, the place where the crime was committed.” Chukwuemeka, however, assured the people of the state that the command would continue to work round the clock to ensure their safety. He urged them to always volunteer useful information to the police on suspicious characters.

If he does not have money wont they free him and his daughter?
