The victims were identified as Saturday Igbani and his daughter, Joy.
Another child of Saturday Igbani is currently battling for survival at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) after suffering from 65 percent degrees of burns.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 3am last Saturday when the late Saturday Agbani wanted to pour kerosene into an already lighted kerosene lantern at their home in along Stella Avenue, off Benin- Agbor Road, Benin.
National Coordinator of the Save Accident Victims of Nigeria (SAVAN), Dr. Eddy Ehikhamenor blamed the incidence of kerosene explosions in the country on the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
He said until the NNPC took the issue of delivery and supply of kerosene very seriously and stopped taking Nigerians for granted, more Nigerians would die from kerosene explosions.
