With Nigeria trailing Angola with three points in group B and with just two games yet to be played by all teams, the Eagles are facing a race against time to safely book their passage to the tournament to be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
After stumbling to a 2-2 draw away to Ethiopia, some weeks back, the Eagles have their work cut out for them as they must win their next two matches against Madagascar in Antanarivo and Guinea in Abuja to stand any chance of qualifying.
But speaking against the backdrop of the unending battle between the Aminu Maigairi-led NFF board and the self-proclaimed faction chaired by Jareth Tenebe, who are being prodded up by Harrison Jalla, Okocha, a former BBC African footballer of the year, has warned all feuding parties not to allow their war to get into the way of the preparations of the Eagles for the two crucial matches.
"The power play for the control of Nigerian football administration is sending the wrong signals to the national team. If these problems are not quickly tackled, it might have negative impact on the Super Eagles, who as we all know, are battling to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup finals.
"My advice is that we should end all these battles and work for the progress of the Super Eagles. The team does not need any distraction at this stage of the qualifying campaign. Our football suffers when there is crisis in administration", Okocha told Sports Vanguard recently in Lagos.
