Suspected members of the Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, struck again in Maiduguri, Borno State on Sunday, killing 25 people and wounding 12 others.
The attack is coming barely 10 days after the sect claimed responsibility for the bomb blast at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja.
The Associated Press quoted authorities as saying that two men riding on motorcycles threw bombs at beer gardens in the city.
Boko Haram, whose name in the local Hausa language means ‘Western education is sacrilege,’ had earlier claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Maiduguri and some parts of Northern Nigeria.
Borno is one of the dozen states that had embraced Islamic Shariah law. However, outdoor beer gardens, hidden from public view, remain popular nightspots.
