[@poster, are you doing a research for your article/ college/ uni papers? ]

I remember being curious about the same thing, and came up with the following possibile scenarios then, its not intended to be offensive, pls read with understanding, and may not only apply to Nigeria alone but also to other big populated nations:

1. the majority of the (very) poor couple, don't have many 'entertainment' options, other than enjoy each other's company (segxwally), this is good then coz it means they focus their time on each other than on others

2. even if they don't have much time to spend on each other, when they do, its just the right time (ovulating time for the women) and PLUS, the couple didn't 'fuss'/ discuss about the outcome like the more richer families do...

3. they don't have much cash to spare to buy family planning aids/ devices (if they ran out of the free ones).

I also adhere to the thought that some poor folks think children are God's gift, so no messing about with it.

the answer to the question is that a poor family worry about everything but sex. sex to a poor couple is like the cheapest, available, inexpensive, gesture they can get whenever possible and they attribute it to God blessings

You've said it all 'poor'! A poor man doesn't plan for anything let alone family planning. He doesn't decide what to eat but d little money he has does that. A lot of them say the reason for having many children is cuz of failed family planning methods.
