Yet again, the Super Eagles have fallien in the FIFA Rankings. The Nigerian team drop five places to 43rd in the world and sixth in Africa in the new FIFA world rankings released yesterday despite winning one game-a 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying game and losing in the high profile international exhibition game against Argentina in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Samson Siaisia led squad was able to defeat Madagascar 2-0 in Antannarivo but lost 3-1 to a strong Argentina squad three days later, thus falling into sixth position behind Côte d'Ivoire,Egypt,Ghana,Burkina Faso and Senegal in the African ranking.
Nigeria will face Guinea in a must-win match of the 2012 qualifying series next month in Abuja also fell in the rankings. The FIFA rankings are based on results over a four-year period.
England also slip in behind Uruguay, Portugal, Italy and Brazil in the standings, while world and European champions, Spain go back to pole position, with Holland dropping to second and Germany in third, ahead of Copa America winners Uruguay.
