The accident involved a commuter bus, a motor bike and a tipper lorry that fell on a young man in the process.
An eyewitness said the petroleum tanker was on top speed from the Sapele Road axis of Murtala Muhammed Way when it developed mechanical fault in its break system near Suyi Hospital before ramming into the vehicles.
The eyewitness blamed the accidents on the tanker driver’s failure to control the vehicle when its break failed.
Sympathisers made frantic efforts to rescue some victims trapped in the vehicles. However, the body of the young man remained trapped in the wreckage of the lorry.
At press time, efforts to reach officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, were fruitless.
