The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered the withdrawal of all police personnel attached to the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

The order was contained in the document with reference number: CB:4001/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.48/ 34

The document said: “IG has ordered the withdrawal of all policemen attached to His Excellency and former Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

“Acknowledge compliance and treat with utmost importance. Please, above, for your information and strict compliance.”

The Nigerian Immigration has also placed the former Kogi State governor on its watchlist after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had  declared over an case of  alleged money laundering worth N80.2bn.

A circular to that effect NIS circular signed by the Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, DS Umar

The circular said:  “I am directed to inform you that the above-named person has been placed on the watch list.

“Suffice to mention that the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering vide letter Ref; CR; 3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/ TE/Vide/1/279 dated April 18, 2024.

“If seen at any entry or exit point, he should be arrested and referred to the Director of Investigation or contact 08036226329/07039617304 for further action.”

Bello ran into the current logjam when he evaded an arrest by EFCC operatives who had laid siege to his house on Wednesday. Bello’s escape from arrest was aided by the incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo who arrived to frustrate the efforts of the EFCC to arrest his immediate predecessor in office and political mentor.

Nigga didn't realize that Tinubu is a very vindictive man. I can still remember his shenanigans after losing the APC Primaries.

This is a fantastic decision that must be applauded. The state cannot continue to use public resources to protect a myopic former Governor who chose to undermine the rule of law and pervert the course of justice.
