Judgement will begin in the house of God,” the scripture says Dan Obinegbo, a pastor and General Overseer of Victory Christian Prayer Ministry, VCPM, Enugu, is now trying to evade arrest by men of the Nigeria Police, Enugu State Command for allegedly kidnapping of  Chukwuebuka Ogbodo, a welder.
Ebere Amaraizu, police image maker, Enugu Command Amaraizu confirmed Obinegbo is being sought after. He told National Daily: “This matter has been reported to us. We are looking for him. The police commissioner (CP) has directed that the pastor be arrested but when our men invaded his church, he was nowhere in sight. It seems he ran away.'
Exodus of Obinegbo's trouble
National Daily gathered that Obinegbo's trouble began on February 17 when he encountered Ogbodo, a native of Akuke-Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area, while the former was at a building site at Olympic Layout Ndagonyo in Umugwu Akum, Enugu. For strange reasons, some persons visibly angry going by the expression on their faces and armed with weapons, blindfolded and whisked him to a hideout.
By the time the veil was removed from his eyes, Ogbodo later found himself at the premises of VCPM, a 'supposed' sanctuary where Obinegbo was on the altar preaching.
Investigation by National Daily, confirmed that Ogbodo was in tears because the kidnappers chained him on both legs, hands on the orders of Obinegbo and tied their hostage to a tree like a “wild animal or a mad man.” Equally, he saw another youngman tied in like manner but was later taken away at night by his captors.
Police rescue  and  Ogbodo's freedom
The following day, three policemen from Awkunanaw Police Station, stormed the prayer centre to effect Ogbodo's release, but his captors numbering eight, all men, including Obinegbo ran away when they sighted the policemen. The police quickly took photograph of the welder in his chained condition and untied him thereafter.
Ogbodo breathed the air-of-freedom. Still in search of justice, the artisan in company of Uche Aniji, his uncle reported the matter to the office of the Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, South East Zone, Enugu demanding that justice be done in the matter.
Barrister Olu Omotayo, CLO South East Zonal Director, immediately wrote the CP to commend the prompt rescue of Ogbodo by his men. But, he wondered why the police could not arrest the accused pastor or the eight men till this day.
When National Daily called at the church some days later to authenticate the veracity of the story, a few of its members said Obinegbo was not around as he had travelled to a branch of the prayer ministry at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Several people tied to trees
Shock was the word when National Daily saw several men and women tied to trees in a dehumanising manner. The church members believe the people tied to the trees were mentally deranged and needed spiritual healing.
Menial workers were busy cleaning the church premises as if nothing happened, while 'worshipers' were having song rehearsal. This gave National Daily an indication that the police may not really be looking for Obinegbo. The thought came to mind when some journalists met with the fugitive pastor the following day. He told them he was not going to comment on the incident since there was no police presence anywhere to indicate that there is a concerted effort in place to release the 'mentally-deranged people' in his church premises.
