Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Beware, these activities could cost you your life! |
on: 21-05-2014 01:40 PM
| Considering the prevailing situation of our country today, these activities are perilous and should be avoided in your own interest: 1. Allowing your aged mother or grand mum to carry your newborn baby home unaccompanied 2. Offering to help children not your own to cross a busy street (Sad, indeed) 3. Offering sweet or biscuits to kids not your own (It’s bad manners to do this, anyway) 4. Mentioning children in a phone conversation near a school (This is incredible but true. See Punch of today (Metro page) 5. Carrying empty Ghana-must-go bags around (No kidding. It’s true. A chap was beaten blue and black in Lagos over the weekend. See Punch of today) 6. Allowing your mentally challenged relatives to roam the street. (This is never good, anyway) 7. Walking the streets in dirty clothes (Road side mechanics who take public transport in their work clothes had better change) 8. Calling in an underaged hawker into your home. (A man was nearly killed for this too) If you know any other not included, feel free to add. http://johnaweonline.blogspot.com/2014/05/beware-these-activities-could-cost-you.html | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Glo Introduces Human Tracker |
on: 2-04-2014 10:04 AM
| Nigeria’s National Telecom Operator, Globacom, on Tuesday demonstrated a service that can be used to track your family and friends. With the service called Glo Family and Friend Finder, you can actually locate any member of your family wherever they may be in the country. (Bad market for kidnappers!) It was part of the 10 new products and services demonstrated to the media at the company’s headquarters, Mike Adenuga Tower, Victoria Island on Tuesday. The demo was graced by Glo Ambassadors, WAJE, Naeto C, Bez, Chee, and Omawunmi, as well as a security chief, the Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos, Mr. Sunday Olaiya. Other products and services demonstrated include Glo Game Store, Glo Medicare, Glo Mobile Newspaper, Glo Directory, Glo Borrow Me Credit, Glo Security Tips, Glo Love Zone, Glo Property Tips, Glo Daily Inspiration and Glo Legal Adviser. According to Globacom’s Marketing Coordinator, Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya, all a subscriber has to do to find someone is to send the text “find” followed by the telephone number of the person to be found to 5511. The platform will alert the person to be found also by SMS who will in turn reply “yes,” to give consent that he should be located and followed. Each request will be charged at N50 per SMS. The response is free. Read more: http://johnaweonline.blogspot.com/2014/04/glo-unveils-product-to-track-and-find.html | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Restore GSM services in the North and save lives |
on: 3-12-2013 05:17 PM
| Shutting down GSM service is not helping war on terror It must be clear to the authorities by now that shutting down communication to fight Boko Haram is not as smart as they originally thought it was. Shutting down GSM services is a double edged sword, which cuts both ways; and from the incident of yesterday it is clear that it is cutting the society more than it is cutting the insurgents. How can you explain over 400 terrorists invading a city for 6 hours and everywhere they got to, they still had the element of surprise in their favour? This is a city where at least one person in every household must have a phone... http://johnaweonline.blogspot.com/2013/12/shutting-down-gsm-service-is-not.html | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Are you invited for a job you didnt apply for? |

| I got the same message too "You have been shortlisted 4 oral/wri(en interview on Wes 13/11/2013 by 9:45am at Lamlat building opp. MRS filling station, old ife road,Gbagi Ibadan. Batch D" and I went... They called themselves HMO they gave a written test just to raise our hopes. After the test a guy came and started telling us about Focus, Dreams, Visions, attitude etc just to get every1 committed. Afterwards, they ask us to pay 9k for health license... People were like bullsh*t... They later reduced the money to 3k but people still don't turn up... Eventually it was reduced to 5h (#500) and 'bout 5% paid as part payment just because they promised to give them a job while others gerout. I spoke with 1 of the presenters and I told him bluntly that they are scammers... he got so angry and went to fetch his boss... I told the boss the same thing and he went away angrily. Why the anger??? They are thieves and people should stop falling for their dumb format.
Thanks for this feedback, bro. Just knew it was a scam. | | |

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Hundreds Queue As Ipad Air Hits The Stores Today |
on: 1-11-2013 01:29 PM
| Your iPad just got a generation older! Apple's new iPad Air becomes available in 41 countries today, pulling hundreds of fans to the front doors of Apple Stores, jostling to be among the first to get their hands on the high-end device. Customers in Australia and Japan were among the first to get their hands on the 9.7-inch tablet as stores opened at 8am in each country. Philip W. Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, unveiled the newly named iPad Air earlier this month. It is the fifth 9.7-inch model to be sold by the Californian firm and is 20 per cent thinner than the iPad 4, with a 5MP camera. Schiller also unveiled the new iPad mini which has a 7.9-inch Retina display for the first time, plus 10 hours battery life. The iPad Air also went on sale on Apple's website in various regions at midnight local time, although reports claim only the Hong Kong store has sold out. The release is part of a double-launch strategy in which the iPad Air is released today followed by the iPad mini 'sometime in November.' Apple has not officially announced when the new 7.9-inch model goes on sale, although rumours claim it could launch on 21 November in time for Thanksgiving in the U.S and ahead of Christmas. Reports suggest the new iPad Mini is delayed because of production problems surrounding the device's new Retina Display. Apple shipped around 8.9 million of its first-generation iPads earlier this year, and even this wasn't enough to satisfy demand. Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: 911 Emergency Number Active In Lagos? |
on: 31-10-2013 11:00 AM
| Angesco: Why not 911. There's nothing wrong using an emergency number that another country is using. It is even better because the Americans have done a very good job of popularising that number worldwide. Anybody can easily remember it, which is usually the very first thing about emergency numbers. It must be well known, so known that in times of crisis when you forget everything else, you remember that one. | | | |
