6  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Drogba wants to quit Chelsea, Lampard may follow on: 16-12-2011 06:32 AM
DIDIER DROGBA is determined to quit Chelsea next month — and Frank Lampard could follow him.

Drogba, 33, is furious the club have rejected his demands for a new two-year contract.

And he has resolved to make a lucrative move to China in the January transfer window rather than wait until his contract expires next summer.

The Ivory Coast international has been offered a two-year deal by Chinese club Dalian Aerbin worth £200,000 per week while Chelsea are only prepared to give him 12 months at £125,000 a week.

That means Drog can earn £20MILLION in China or £6.5m at the Bridge.

Drogba's decision is a massive blow at a time that club legend Lampard is considering his future.

Lamps is offended and mystified at his recent treatment by manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The England star wants to know where he stands at the club he has served for the past 10 years and believes he deserves an explanation for his absence from Chelsea's starting line-up.

Yet he has been left in the dark by AVB, who insists he will not be making any special allowances for the midfielder.

Villas-Boas said: "Plenty of players are pushing for selection and Frank is not the only one.

"Lamps and John Terry represent the best in the history of this club.

"But every player must be treated as fairly as possible."

Lampard has 18 months of his £170,000-a-week Chelsea contract to run and is unhappy at being on the bench for the last two games against Valencia and Manchester City.

He voiced his frustrations after coming on as a sub to score the winning penalty against league leaders City on Monday.

A Muslim woman disemboweled her daughter as a sacrifice to God after she became convinced the four-year-old was possessed by spirits.

Shayma Ali, 36, stabbed the girl up to 40 times and took out her liver while Koranic verses played in the background.

When police arrived at their east London home, Ali was heard chanting: 'I seek refuge in God from the curse of Satan'.

She had become obsessed that the child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was possessed by a Jinn, a spirit referred to in the Koran which can occupy humans and animals.

12  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Teenage Prostitutes Rule Lagos on: 22-08-2011 06:41 AM
The streets of Obalende, a bubbly neighbourhood on the Lagos Island, have over the years been prominent in the social history of the state. It seems the neighbourhood is not about to give up as it has become an attraction to prostitutes.

Unlike other parts of Lagos, teenage prostitutes have taken over the night in the area, giving vendors an opportunity to make brisk business.

Our correspondent, who visited Obalende at 12 midnight on Saturday, reported that the area was filled with a large number of prostitutes who were mostly between the ages of 13 and 17 years.

Disorderliness and revelry seemed to be native to Keffi Street despite the presence of the Dodan army barracks and a police barracks in the vicinity.

No fewer than 15 prostitutes would make segxwal advances as one walked down the street. Despite police patrols, people could be seen on the streets smoking Marijuana with other dangerous drugs being sold at different spots on the street. Soon the road was blocked as the fun seekers extended the partying to the middle of the road.

A young man who identified himself as Chima told PUNCH METRO that he regularly visited the place as it provided fun and cheap sex.

He said, “With just N1,000 you can buy a bottle of beer, a round of sex and a wrap of Marijuana. “I come here whenever I need to enjoy myself. I am just a trader here but with little money, I can enjoy the pleasures of a king.”

The face-off between the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu and President, Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Ayo Salami, deepened yesterday as the latter wrote the National Judicial Council (NJC), intimating it of a suit staying further action on him.

The NJC panel had last Tuesday ordered Justice Salami to apologise to the CJN over alleged perjury emanating from the oath the latter took insinuating Justice Katsina-Alu’s directive over the Sokoto State governorship election petition.

The NJC gave Justice Salami a seven-day deadline to apologise to the CJN. The deadline expired yesterday.
But Justice Salami headed to the Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday to seek redress. The NJC rejected the service of the suit on Monday.
Justice Salami’s lawyers once again went to the council yesterday to effect the service, culminating in a mild drama at the NJC’s premises.

Pre-empting any action the NJC could take against him, Justice Salami’s lawyers yesterday drew the attention of the council to the suit instituted against the NJC and others before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
In a letter addressed to the NJC, titled: “Notification of Pendency of Court Action and Application for Injunction,” Justice Salami urged the council to stay all actions against him until the matter is disposed off by the court.
The letter written by his counsel, Chief Akin Olujimi [SAN] reads in part:
“We act as counsel to Hon. Justice lsa Ayo Salami, (OFR), the plaintiff in the above headed suit. It is on his behalf and instruction that we write this letter.

OBESE Brits are splashing out - on supersize toilet seats.
They can bear weights of up to 60 stone and at 19 inches wide, have a seating area 75 per cent greater than standard ones.

The £200 Big John seats are imported from America and sold by Derby-based Gordon Ellis & Co - which said sales have doubled in the last two years as the number of overweight people rockets.

Director Steven Evanson said: "People are getting bigger, wider and heavier. Why shouldn't they have a comfortable time when they go to the toilet?

"We tell them, 'Your bums aren't too big - your toilet seat isn't big enough'."

One relieved customer from Manchester said: "My husband required a little more room and was breaking many toilet seats a year - the Big John put an end to that."

Figures show that around half Brits are overweight, with 17 per cent of men and 21 per cent of women classed as obese. Around one in every 11 deaths is now linked to carrying excess fat - the highest number in Europe and 50 per cent more than in France.

Experts fear the number may soon exceed that from smoking
