Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Bishop Oyedepo Faces N2 Billion Lawsuit For Assaulting Female Church Member |
on: 22-04-2012 12:56 PM
| I think what the "man of God" did to the lady was unwarranted. But then this is a common theme in Nigeria.
Slapping appears to be what Nigerian people in authority use to show who is in charge. We had the commissioner in Delta state slapping a nurse and I am 100% sure some Nigerians can give other examples when they have seen people mistreated in this way in public. Sadly enough, this is common in some Pentecostal churches. Thank God for the internet and what happened to this young lady has gone viral.
However most Nigerians will not condemn it as they have a huge belief in "witches," and their so called power! I have seen a child shaking on the ground and people saying she was trying to change "back" into a snake? In the end it was discovered the young girl was having an epileptic fit! Thankfully she recovered and is now on medication.
In both situations "educated" people were present and if they hold such beliefs what hope is there for the uneducated?
There is the story of a "dead mermaid" on the Naijapal website? I challenge whoever broke the story to give up the "find" for an autopsy from a source unconnected to your website. Lets test and see how "real" it is.
Nigerian films depict witches (minus of course the very poor acting ability) as real. One female pastor went so far as to say what they portrayed was no different from what was shown in the Harry Potter films! She forgets the children who watch such on TV or cinemas in the western world know it to be a story made into a film. These same young children would line up for hours to see Daniel Radcliffe (who played Harry Potter) to get his autograph. They are able to differentiate between fact and fiction. Sadly this is not the case in Nigeria. If people in Nigeria want to believe the magic scenes in the Harry Potter are real let them!!!
Do you realize that up to today, Nigerians believe India is banned form taking part in the football world cup because they use magic incantations to defeat their opponents?
HOW PATHETIC!

| Sorry I do not believe you!!!!!
Tell the truth.
Was there no central heating where you were staying?
I think it was more of you having to honour the terms of your visa?
There is nothing wrong with that as by sticking to your date of departure, it will increase your chances of being allowed back into the country for another holiday.
I hope you had a nice stay.

| Breaking news has just said 38 people so far have been killed. May their souls rest in peace.
One thing I am sure of is this. A religion that teaches, killing another person will get you martyrdom, will be hard to defeat.
Whether it it stated in the Koran or not that is the belief the vast majority of Muslims have.
They were given the opportunity to go their own way in the Nigeria civil war but they decided on "One Nigeria."
Wish they would make up their minds and go their separate way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| From comments posted on this website, I fear Nigerians have a limited knowledge of what mental ill health really is. It is uncalled for to use such derogatory terms when describing the ill patients. All over the world, people with mental health issues are working and contributing their best to their society.
Mental health ranges from stress related issues (which many of us suffer at one time or another), anxiety attacks, depression (including post natal depression), paranoia, schizophrenia and so on. And it is because of the Nigerian stance to the illness that many families hide away their ill relations from neighbors so as not to be mocked and scorned.
Nigeria is a great nation and can become a world force if you can just drop the melodramatics and be yourself and not always on the defensive.
Well done to the nurses caring for the patients. Well done.

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Alleged assault by commissioner: Delta nurses withdraw services |

| When on June 14th 2011, the Prime minister (of England) David Cameron and his deputy, Nick Clegg and their television crew were paying a visit to a hospital, they got a stern telling off from a doctor who works there for disregarding hospital rules.
The doctor, a senior orthopedic surgeon was upset that members of the film crew and the PM and his deputy were ignoring hygiene rules aimed at preventing the spread of diseases. With this and following instructions both leaders removed their ties and rolled up their sleeves for a bedside chat with a patient. In turn they asked the film crew to leave and apologized.
What is the probability of this happening in Nigeria?
I think the honorable thing for the commissioner to do now would be to step down from his post with the little dignity (if any) he has left.
He should also be investigated for domestic abuse. I have a feeling his wife is most probably a battered spouse.
Have a nice day. | | | |
