corners of the world to battle who is the most ‘pretty’ of them all

Actually tagged ‘Miss International Queen Beauty pageant’ the 8th edition, which held last night in Pattaya, Thailand, had twenty-one contestants from
fifteen countries present.

At the end of the contest, Miss Philipines, Kevin Balot won the crown of the 8th Miss International Queen Beauty pageant.

108  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / AWC 2012: Nigeria Vs Cameroun Today At 2.30pm on: 29-10-2012 07:46 AM
An old rivalry will be rekindled when the Super Falcons of Nigeria confront their Camerounian counterparts, the Indomitable Lionesses tomorrow in their first match of the ongoing 2012 African Women Championship in Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria and Cameroun by virtue of being semi-finalists in the 2010 edition of the competition were drawn by in the preliminary round and only saw action in the final round of the Qualifiers.

The Lionesses accounted for Ghana's absence in this competition with a 9-8 aggregate win on penalty after both legs finished 1-1 apiece while Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 6-0 on aggregate to qualify for the competition.

At the last AWC, Nigeria and Cameroun met in the semi-final with the Super Falcons inflicting a humiliating 5-1 defeat on the Camerounian ladies but some months later, the Indomitable Lionesses defeated the Nigerian gals 2-1 in Yaounde for a 3-3 aggregate and then went on to prevail via penalties to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics.

Hence, the setting in Bata on Monday, when Nigeria takes on Cameroun will bear a semblance of a revenge mission as the Nigerian team will seek to avenge their ouster from the Summer Olympics while the Camerounians will want to defeat the Nigerians again to prove their superiority and that the victory in the Olympic Qualifier was not a fluke.

The Super Falcons are without Desire Oparanozie, Osinachi Ohale and Faith Ikidi in this tournament but the Camerounians tormentor-in-chief when they met in the 2010 AWC, Perpetua Nkwocha, is still very much around and she's set a lofty 15-goals target for herself in this competition and will want to open her goal-scoring account tomorrow while the Lionesses' team remains largely unchanged from the team that featured in the 2010 AWC and the 2012 Olympics.

Apart from the historical rivalry and bragging rights, the stakes in this match has also being heightened by the Bakassi issue. Also, this match is important for both teams as a win tomorrow is 50% guaranty of a spot in the semi-finals as the other group opponents, Ethiopia and Ivory Coast don't have female football pedigree.

The Super Falcons play more of "flair" football depending on nimble footwork, skill, speed and the individual ability of players like Glory Iroka, Ngozi Okobi, Esther Sunday, Stella Mbachu, Ebere Ngozi, Perpetua Nkwocha, Helen Ukaonu etc while their opponents play more as a team and rely less on individual flair. Like their male counterparts, the lionesses are very physical, brawny, tenacious and workaholic, full of running and have a "never say die" spirit.

Nigeria and Cameroun are no strangers to themselves at this level and have in fact played themselves many times with either sides recording wins and losses so history may not count for much as both teams square up tomorrow.

Kick-off is 2.30PM Nigerian time (3.30PM South African time) and it'd be on SuperSport 3.

So what's your prediction? Drop your comments/opinions or just wish the Super Falcons Goodluck tongue

Gowon Hits Achebe on Civil War, Says - He Wrote Out of Ignorance

Quote

War time Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has criticized renowned author, Professor Chinua Achebe, over his new book on the Nigerian civil war, saying he{Achebe }does not know the issue he was writing about.

Gowon said he was ready to face the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague on the matter if necessary.

"What role did Achebe play in the secessionist plans? Achebe must have been outside the country during the war and probably did not know what happened during the period otherwise he would not have written on what he was not sure of ", he remarked.

The erstwhile Nigerian leader, who was answering questions from journalists courtesy, visit to Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu at the Presidential Lodge, Minna, Niger state, yesterday, said Achebe must have been talking out of ignorance, adding that he and the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo had no regrets over their roles in the civil war, pointing out that if there was no secession, there would not have been civil war.

"In fact , if there was no secession by the south eastern part of the country, there would have been no civil war because right from the beginning of the crises, the war would have been averted if not for the secession . It was something I believed we could have stopped," he stressed.

Gowon also debunked the claim by the author that his administration embarked on the mass killing of Igbo, adding that the federal troops did not also use hunger as a weapon to dislodge the dissidents.

"It was the Igbo that objected to the creation of corridor for movements of medical aid and food supplies to the civilian population at the period; on this, I am ready to face the International Criminal Court of Justice at the Hague for prosecution over the role played by me during the war and, fortunately, some Nigerians are still alive to bear witness to the roles played by both the leadership of the secessionist group and the then Federal Military Government under my leadership, "the war-time leader stated.

He also recalled that during the war, a ship named "Josina" and owned by the secessionist group, which they claimed was carrying agricultural implements, was captured by federal troops and it was subjected to a thorough search and the cargo turned out to be a collection of arms and ammunition.

Gowon, who was in Minna for a 2-day prayer organized by Nigeria Prays, a group he leads, said that the massive deaths recorded by the Igbo during the civil war was caused by their own propaganda machine which claimed that the northern invaders were coming to their camps and that caused panic and pandemonium among their people because some people were trying to move from one location to the other out of fear of imaginary attacks by the so called northern invaders and without food.

Sadiq Abacha stages A-class wedding

Bykemi yesufu

Ask those privileged to have attended any of the weddings of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha's children and they will testify that the former first family knows how to wow their guests.

For the umpteenth time, the Abachas led by their mother, Hajia Maryam staged a wedding that has set the standard for other members of the high society. Sadiq, one of the handsome sons of the former first family, got hitched to the love of his life, Huda Mahmud in a five-day cultural extravaganza held from October 16 to 21. All of these events were characterized by glitz and glamour. First, there was the Kamu ceremony held at Kado Estate, Abuja.

Then there was the Wushe-Wushe event held at the Blue-Velvet marquee, which was followed by the Walima. On Friday October18, the wedding Fatiha took place at the National Mosque. Guests of the couple reconvened at the International Conference Center (ICC) later in the evening for the wedding reception.

The compere at the reception, Dayo Benjamins-Laniyi described the ambience at the ICC as celestial and there was not one dissenting voice. Not only was the entire hall covered up in white decorations with sparkling lights, even the plate holders and chairs were made with glitering stones.

These along with the hundreds of beautiful faces adorned in high fashion resulted in a show of opulence only the Abachas can pull-off. It was at the reception that Sadiq publicly declared that Huda was going to be his "one and only true love", not just in words but also with a wave of his index finger.

The love from the couple who met in Dubai years back was infectious. It was clear for all to see that they were really into each other as they exchanged rings during their reception. For the Wushe-Wushe night, Brymo and May-D performed while Dr. Sid and Zaaki Azzay entertained guests at the reception chaired by Niger-Delta strongman, Chief Edwin Clark.

Former First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar'Adua was the mother of the day. Just as there was enough eye candy for both guys and babes to view, there was a lot to eat and drink with most guests expressing happiness that they were part of the Sadiq and Huda's wedding.

Published Monday, October 08, 2012

Janet Jackson and her fiancé Wissam Al Mana are reportedly planning to get married in Doha, Qatar in 2013.
The couple hope to tie the knot in Doha where the billionaire was born and are making arrangements for the ceremony to take place in 2013.

Janet and Wissam will be wedded in a Muslim ceremony. A renown Turkish author, Adnan Oktar (aka Harun Yahya), is also making the claim that the 46-year-old Janet Jackson has converted to Islam — as did her brother, Michael Jackson — and is choosing to keep her new religion a secret from her fans.

According to an insider the wedding will be "one of the biggest, most memorable extravaganzas in recent history".
The source added to National Enquirer magazine: "They have tentatively set a late 2013 wedding date. But they are still working out the details and the exact day."

Quote

They will reportedly spend $3 million to fly in their 500 wedding guests from all over the world, while Wissam wants to give all attendees a $10,000 Rolex watch each as a thank you for attending.[/b]

The insider added: "Wissam is going to splash big when he marries Janet. It's going to be the wedding of the century."

Janet and Wissam allegedly got engaged last year after Wissam, a billionaire whose family has extensive reaches in the real estate and media spheres, proposed to her with a stunning 15 carat diamond ring. The couple met in December of 2009 after Janet gave a special performance in the Middle East and the rest, so it seems, is history. The couple was supposedly shooting for a 2011 wedding, but they ultimately tempered their excitement and chose to hold off for a couple of years so they could have time to plan the festivities.

Janet has been dating Wissam - who is almost a decade younger than her - since summer 2010.

The 46-year-old singer - the sister of the late Michael Jackson - has previously insisted there is nothing wrong with dating younger men as long as the couple is happy.

Janet - who was in a seven-year relationship with music producer Jermaine Dupri - said: "My mother always raised us to believe that age was just a number. All of us - my sisters, my brothers - we'll just tell you our ages because it's all about where you are mentally and how you feel about yourself. It doesn't matter."

how seriously are we taking law enforcement? Any family member or human being that knows the whereabouts of an enemy of state should have to speak or be arrested if their knowledge of the persons activities are proven.

The reasons to our abnormal behavior in this country, is that, we lack psychiatric institutions that can attend to our psychological disorders, and we live in an ash environment . Don't blame the governor, is behavior surpasses hIs action!  Eighty Five percent of Nigerians reacts through their subconscioness unknowingly. We act before we think! The most annoying of it all, shouting or raising voice when a debate or argument is taking place. I like governor Okorocha, and I'm suggesting  he should employ a psychiatric aide. I think he needs one! Lol

loooll! You know what a psychologist will tell him. It's because as a child we are beat to control our behavior. When we do something wrong we are hit. This primitive means of raising a child creates as adult that impulsively hits others when frustrated and/or when he wants to control the behavior of someone else.

I study it in school, and I agree with you 100%.
I can name a couple governors with sever mental illness, such as Theodore Orji (sociopathy (anti social) and narcassistic personality disorder)

Okorocha punches Governor Obi’s aide over seat

Governor Rochas Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Saturday punched a protocol officer who refused to allow him sit on a chair reserved for the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, at the 80th birthday celebration of former vice president, Chief Alex Ekwueme, in Enugu.

The incident occurred 20 minutes before most of the invited guests arrived.

SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the seater was reserved for the host Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime and Obi. The Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, represented Chime who is still out of the country.

The protocol officer, Mr. Ifeanyi Onukuba, who works with Obi, was shocked at Okorocha’s action and before he could recover from it, a police officer attached to the Bomb Disposal Unit in Anambra State, Mr. Felix Alumona, pushed Okorocha when he was removing the tag bearing Obi’s name from the seat.

Our correspondent observed that Okorocha’s Aide de Camp, Gabriel Onu, immediately pounced on Alumona, hitting and tearing his uniform, while other security details attached to the Imo governor joined in the scuffle.

Sensing that the matter was beginning to attract people, Okorocha quickly waded in, saying, “Hey, please stop the fight! Let us not fight over an ordinary seat. I will share the seat with Peter Obi.”

Minutes after the fracas, Okorocha’s aides grumbled saying, “Why is it that anywhere we go, they always reserve a special seat for Obi. Is Okorocha not the leader of Ndigbo?”

When Obi arrived, he squeezed himself in the couch, sitting between Onyebuchi and Okorocha.

Forbes: Oyedepo, Oyakhilome Top The List Of Nigeria’s Richest Pastors. Check out the full list

Quote
People view the wealth of men of God from different angles. While some think there’s nothing bad living a good life filled with abundant wealth, others believe men of God are just supposed have enough, and that their calling doesn’t require excess.
Whichever way you choose to look at this, everyone has a right to their opinion.
Here are the five pastors Forbes think are the richest in Nigeria.
1. Bishop David Oyedepo
Affiliation: Living Faith World Outreach Ministry, aka Winners Chapel
Estimated net worth: $150 million
David Oyedepo is Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher. Ever since he founded the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, it has grown to become one of Africa’s largest congregations. The Faith Tabernacle, where he hosts three services every Sunday, is Africa’s largest worship center, with a seating capacity of 50,000. Oyedepo owns four private jets and homes in London and the United States. He also owns Dominion Publishing House, a thriving publishing company that publishes all his books (which are often centered on prosperity). He founded and owns Covenant University, one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, and Faith Academy, an elite high school.
2. Chris Oyakhilome
Church: Believers’ Loveworld Ministries, a.k.a Christ Embassy
Estimated net worth: $30 million – $50 million
Last year, the charismatic preacher was at the center of a $35 million money laundering case in which he was accused of siphoning funds from his church to foreign banks. Pastor Chris pleaded no wrongdoing and the case was eventually dismissed. His church, Christ Embassy, boasts more than 40,000 members, several of whom are successful business executives and politicians. Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate. His Loveworld TV Network is the first Christian network to broadcast from Africa to the rest of the world on a 24 hour basis.
3. Temitope Joshua
Church: Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN)
Estimated net worth: $10 million – $15 million
Nigeria’s most controversial clergyman is also one of its richest and most philanthropic. T.B Joshua heads the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a congregation he founded in 1987, which accommodates over 15,000 worshippers on Sundays. The Pastor has remained controversial for several years for his inexplicable powers to heal all sorts of incurable diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and paralysis. For miracle-craving worshippers, it’s the perfect seduction. The church currently has branches in Ghana, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Greece. In the past three years, he has given over $20 million to causes in education, healthcare and rehabilitation programs for former Niger Delta militants. He owns Emmanuel TV, a Christian television network, and is close friends with Ghanaian President Atta Mills.

4. Matthew Ashimolowo
Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC)
Estimated net worth: $6 million – $10 million
In 1992, Foursquare Gospel Church, a Nigerian church, sent Ashimolowo to open a satellite branch in London. But Pastor Matthew had other ideas and decided to set up his own church instead. Today, his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest Pentecostal church in the United Kingdom. In 2009, the church posted profits of close to $10 million and assets worth $40 million. Ashimolowo earns an annual salary of $200,000, but his real wealth comes from varied business interests including his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media, which churns out Christian literature and documentaries. Ashimolowo’s representatives did not respond to a request confirming his net worth and ownership of all these assets.

5. Chris Okotie
Church: Household of God Church
Net worth: $3 million -$10 million
Pastor Okotie made his first success as a popular pop musician in the 80s. He found the light, embraced the bible and set up the Household of God Church, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant congregations. His 5,000 member church consists predominantly of Nollywood celebrities, musicians, and society people. He contested and lost Nigerian presidential elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party he founded and funds. An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer and Porsche among several others.
