According to National Mirror, tragedy struck in Benin, Edo State at the weekend when a car crushed the father of a groom, identified as Mr. Edward Airhiavbere, during a wedding.
The wedding, which attracted the cream of the social circles in the state capital, ended abruptly before the couple could say, “Yes, I do”.
Many of the confused family members and guests either shook their heads in amazement as they returned home or simply stood rooted to the spot.
The incident occurred about 9.30am on Saturday [Jul. 6] in front of the Registry of the Oredo Local Government Area, located just about 100 metres from the sprawling palace of the Oba of Benin.
The groom, bride and others in the bridal train wept profusely as the victim reportedly died on the spot before he could be rushed to the nearby Central Hospital’s emergency ward for treatment.
Witnesses said the groom’s father died when an attempt to re-park an Isuzu V8 Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, with registration number Lagos SR 21 KJA in front of the registry gone awry.
A young man, who attempted to re-park the car lost control of the vehicle and crushed the septuagenarian Airhiavbere, who sat behind a Toyota Camry car with registration number Edo BD 958 USL.
The victim was said to have died on the spot despite spirited attempts to save his life. The unidentified young man trying to re-park the car exploited the ensuing confusion to escape mob action. SOURCE

The Nigerian movie industry has yet again been thrown into mourning with the death of Tony Umole. The actor who is popular as “Daddy”, a character he interpreted well in One Love, a TV serial drama.
His demise was confirmed by Taju Adepetu, the Executive Producer of One Love.

North West is already living like royalty courtesy of Jay Z and Beyonce who gave a staggering £5,000 of presents for the tot.
According to the Sun Newspaper, Among the gifts the pair gave to two-week-old North were personalised Christian Dior baby booties and a three-piece sterling silver Elsa Peretti Padova baby set with the tot’s name on. A source said: ‘Kanye is one of Jay-Z’s closest friends so he wanted to get the best gift. n the morning of Saturday, June 15, 2013 at about 3:30AM, Nigerian Pop star Ayo ‘Wizkid‘ Balogun was involved in a car accident while driving his newly acquired Porsche Panamera automobile along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the 22-year-old’s N14m luxury car was bashed from behind by another car, NET has confirmed that the crash occurred after the singer lost a tyre. Investigations and eye witness accounts reveal that Wizkid’s accident was not caused by another motorist; the story goes that the singer was spotted racing down the Lekki-Epe Expressway towards the Lekki Tool gate when the front tire burst sending the car in a twist of spins. Eye witness accounts tell NET that Wizkid’s car spun around about four times before dragging along the concrete sidewalk. Within seconds, the right side of his Porsche was shredded. The airbags had activated, keeping the passengers in the car safe. We could not confirm if Wiz was driving or being driven. On-lookers tell NET that as soon as the car stopped spinning Wizzy and his bodyguard jumped out. ‘They got out immediately, Wizkid looked a little distressed but was okay, his bodyguard immediately grabbed a screwdriver and began removing the license plates‘, an eye witness who was attending the a party at Oriental Hotel, directly opposite the scene of the accident told our correspondent. Minutes later, another vehicle arrived and picked up Wizkid, while his bodyguard stayed put until a tow truck arrived to tow the crashed car. It was a very bad day recently for a beautiful ND 1 student of a private polytechnic in Ekiti State as she was molested by five different different men, including a boy who was professing undying love for her and wanted her to be his special girlfriend.
The boy and his three friends first took turn to rape her after tying her hands and legs... Then a security man who was asked to take the victim to the police station for a formal report also could not resist her beauty, hence he took her to his house and also forcefully had his way. How sad!

The rape victim [name withheld] said the boy, who had earlier asked her out, stormed her room with 3 boys, tied her up and took turn to rape her.
She said the Chief Security Officer of the school directed a security man, Adanbioje, to take her to police station to make an official report of the rape case but after leaving the station, the security man took her to his residence and also forcefully had sex with her.

John Kumuyi, the second son of Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, took his heartthrob to the altar. The joyful ceremony was held on Saturday, 15 June at the Deeper Life Bible Church, after the traditional wedding.
John Kumuyi married Miss Love Odih, who is said to be the daughter of the National Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry in Jamaica and former State Overseer of the church in Cross River State, Nigeria.
Pastor Kumuyi, who wore an ash suit, attended the engagement and church wedding with his wife Esther, who wore traditional attire. The bridegroom wore a grey suit, while the bride was decked in flowing white gown with a veil to match.
John sauntered out of the church with his now-wife after the cleric had taken them through marital vows. Ahuge cake was cut during the wedding by the new couple. Earlier during the traditional wedding, the bride wore native while the groom was simply decked in English wear.
Pastor Kumuyi's children Jerry and John were born to him by his former wife, Biodun Kumuyi, who died at the age of 57 on 11 April, 2009 after a brief illness. The revered man of God remarried former Esther Aduke Blaize, who was then 65 in October 2010 at the age of 69, a year and few months after his former wife died.
