Jigawa State Hisbah Command has arrested 21 commercial sex workers, as part of efforts to stop them from operating in the state.

The commandant of Hisbah in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Galamawa, who disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse, said the arrest followed a security report that they had invaded different parts of the state after they were dislodged from neighbouring Bauchi,  Kano and Lagos states.
The commercial sex workers were  said to have divided themselves to various towns and villages such as Ringim, Chaichai and Dutse.
Galamawa explained that men of the command arrested 21 of them in Ringim and Dutse with their traditional musicians, while some were arrested in Chaichai town with the owner of the house who gave them rent.
According to him, they were handed over to the state police command, which charged them before a Sharia Court sitting in Dutse under Magistrate Aliyu Hadejia.
The Hisbah commandant, explained that they would support government commitment to rid the state of criminals.

25  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / TRAGEDY: Generator Fumes Kills Newly Married Couple In Calabar on: 5-09-2013 07:23 AM
A newly married couple, who packed to their house soon after wedding  have been reportedly killed by generator fumes in Ikot Omin on the outskirts of Calabar,  the Cross River State capital.

The couple, Bassey Effiong (27), his wife, Glory (21) and her younger sister, Emem (16), were said to have packed to the house yet to be completed by Bassey.
“When he got married, he decided to work on one of the rooms and moved in, while hoping to gradually complete the house,” Mike, a neighbour to the couple said.
However, tragedy struck, Sunday night, when the couple  turned on their generating set and placed it on the corridor close to the  room,  where they slept but fume from the  generating set  was said to have  subsequently gained entry into the room in large quantity and suffocatded the couple along with Emem,  the wife’s younger sister.

They were discovered dead several hours later by a naval officer,  David Ekanem, Bassey’s uncle, who said he went there after he called Bassey’s mobile number several times without response and on getting there at  5 pm, Monday, he met the tragic sight.
“I knocked several times on the door but there was no answer, so I had to force the door open. It was then I saw my nephew and his wife along with the young girl lying dead,” the Naval officer said.
Spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command,  Mr Hogan Bassey,  said the matter was reported by the naval officer and the bodies evacuated to the  Infectious Disease Hospital  mortuary, Edgerly Road,  Calabar.

26  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / PHOTO: Pastor In Trouble Over Missing Mental Patient on: 5-09-2013 07:21 AM
Awolusi was detained for 10 days before being released on bail on the condition he would produce the missing 32-year-old.
Awolusi, who heads Eternal Rock of Ages Church, Iwaya, was said to have brought Sunday to Lagos from Ile-Ife, Osun State, on January 14, 2013, promising to help cure his mental problem through special prayers.
Barely a week after, however, Sunday was said to have disappeared and had not been found.
The father of the missing man, Mr. Dele Ayeni, told PUNCH Metro that the pastor knew his son’s whereabouts.
He said, “My son has been sick since 1999. He is my first child and was in the School of Science, Ile-Ife, before his illness. My findings showed that some evil people who saw his bright future plagued him with the sickness.
“After spending over N2m moving him from different prayer houses and psychiatric hospitals, I decided to keep him in the house.
“Pastor Awolusi told us he could help us and we decided to release the boy to him on January 14, 2013.
“Just about a week after, he said my son was missing and we have been wondering where he kept our son.”
The health worker retiree, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone from his home in Ile-Ife, Osun State, alleged that his son was neither fed nor chained down, but was left in the care of a pregnant woman on the day he was declared missing.
Sunday’s mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Ayeni, insisted that the pastor could not claim innocence.
Elizabeth, a teacher, who said she was in a church on a three-day fasting programme for her child said, “Awolusi left my son at the church without proper monitoring. Sunday was still very ill and there had not been any sign of improvement as he claimed. He must produce our child.”
Our correspondent learnt that after Sunday’s parents visited Lagos many times to join in the search for their son without success, they involved the police, that arrested the pastor.
Awolusi told our correspondent that he had been under pressure to produce Sunday since he was released on bail in June.
He said he had offered to help the Ayenis, and had not demanded any money, because Sunday was his nephew.
He said, “I was merely trying to help them. For the days the boy was with me, I had not only given him spiritual help, I had also taken him to the Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba.
“We were given appointment to come back in January 28, 2013.
“But before that day, I went to work and left Sunday in the care of a neighbour.
“It was the woman who informed me that the boy said he was going out to buy something, and had not returned home since then.”
Awolusi said he had reported the matter at the Sabo and Alakara police stations in Lagos before the victim’s parents decided to bring policemen from Osun State to arrest him.
“I was released because after the police investigated and searched my house, they saw I have done nothing with him. But the parents kept saying I used their son for ritual, which is not true,” he said.
The Police Pubilc Relations Officer for the Lagos State command, Ngosi Braide, confrimed the incident.
She added, “After the pastor was arrested by policemen from Osun State Command, we left the matter to them (Osun).”

27  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / US Senate panel gives Obama authority to use military force against Syria on: 4-09-2013 11:19 PM
Hmmm...wahala dey for Syria o. A US Senate panel voted today to give President Barack Obama the authority to use military force against Syria in response to a deadly chemical weapons attack in Damacus on August 21 that killed over 1,400 people as they slept in their homes.

The vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was the first in a series as the president's request makes its way through congressional panels before coming before the two chambers of Congress for a final vote.

The full Senate is expected to vote on the measure next week. Obama's top advisers on Wednesday took the argument for action to the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where the support seen in the Senate will be harder to find.

The resolution would permit Obama to order a limited military mission against Syria, as long as it doesn't exceed 90 days and involves no American troops on the ground for combat operations. (Associated Press)

Meanwhile some Arab countries have offered to pay for US military invasion in Syria.
Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab counties have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.
“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assess, the answer is profoundly yes,” Kerry said. “They have. That offer is on the table.”

Asked by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) about how much those countries would contribute, Kerry said they have offered to pay for all of a full invasion.
“In fact, some of them have said that if the United States is prepared to go do the whole thing the way we’ve done it previously in other places, they’ll carry that cost,” Kerry said. “That’s how dedicated they are at this. That’s not in the cards, and nobody’s talking about it, but they’re talking in serious ways about getting this done.

28  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigeria to Stop Fuel Importation by 2016 – Dangote on: 4-09-2013 11:15 PM
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and the president of the Dangote Group, has predicted Nigeria’s current fuel importation will stop by 2016 with the coming on stream of the proposed Dangote petrochemical project.
Dangote group is billed to build Africa’s largest refinery, petro-chemicals and fertilizer manufacturing complex in Nigeria with a loan secured from the consortium of banks that are providing a $3.3 billion credit facility for the project.
The $9 billion project represent 20 per cent of the nation’s reserve and a huge project meant to market the country as self-reliant in both petrochemical and petroleum products.
The Billionaire also noted that Nigeria currently spends about $30 billion dollars annually importing petroleum products.
The business mogul stated this after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, on September 4, 2013, Wednesday, after the signing of agreement for the establishment of the petrochemical project at Olokola, in Ondo state.
Briefing state house correspondents after a closed door meeting with the President after the signing ceremony, Mr. Dangote thanked the Government for providing the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 23-year-old woman in Jigawa for allegedly dumping her new born baby boy in a toilet. The Corps Commandant in the state, Mr Muhammad Gidado, said in Dutse that the suspect was arrested following a tip-off by patriotic citizens.

The suspect gave birth to the baby on Sept. 1 around 11.30p.m and allegedly dumped it in the toilet. The suspect alleged that she was impregnated by a man who ordered her to dump the baby. The man has also been arrested, adding that “he confessed to committing the offence”. He said that medical examination conducted at General Hospital, Hadejia, revealed that the suspect gave birth to the baby.

He stated that efforts were being made to recover the baby, which he said “might be dead by now due to the hours it spent” in the toilet. The suspects would be charged to court after investigation had been concluded.

What a callous pair! Dumping an innocent baby in a toilet is a no-no! May God forgive them!

12 suspected cult members have been apprehended in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun state by local police.
It was also reported that the suspects possessed guns, live catridges, Indian hemp and assorted charms at the time of the arrest.

38  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / FANTASTIC: Indian Doctors Separate Conjoined Twins from Nigeria (PHOTO) on: 4-09-2013 08:30 PM
The doctors of a Hospital in New Delhi, India, declared on September 4, 2013, Wednesday that a pair of formerly conjoined twins, born in Nigeria, were healthy and happy after they were successfully separated in a marathon “nerve-wracking” operation in India by a team of 40 specialists.
The one-year-old girls, sporting matching bright pink dresses, sat patiently on their parents’ laps as doctors explained
“They were fused at their back when they came to us which is very rare,” paediatric surgeon Prashant Jain said.
“Usually the twins are joined in the head or the upper body. It posed a huge challenge to our team of doctors,” children’s’ surgeon added.
The separation took place last month and lasted for 18-hours.
FANTASTIC: Indian Doctors Separate Conjoined Twins from Nigeria (PHOTO)
In the picture, Badaru Mannir (L) holds his daughter Hassana Badaru (2L) while Hussaina Badaru (R) is held by her mother.
The girls, Hussaina and Hassana sat happily, grabbing at a mobile phone, clutching a rattle and trying to pull off their mother’s earrings.
The mother of the twins, Mrs. Malama Badariyya Badaru, said she was incredibly happy at finally being able to hold the girls in her arms “individually”.
“It was all nerve-wracking work. But it feels great to see them happy, healthy and independent,” Jain said.
The single surgery was carried out in three stages, preparation, separation and then reconstruction of their shared organs which include the lower spine, lower intestinal and urinary tracts as well as genitals.
“We carried out rehearsals using dummies. All tubes, wires, injections and drugs were colour-coded in pink or blue (for each girl) to avoid any mistake,” he said.
Jain said only 15 percent of all conjoined twins are born with this type of condition, known medically as pygopagus. Medical literature lists just 32 such cases, he said.
It would be recalled that Kano-based Badaru family were seeking N600,000 for separation surgery. It is truly fantastic that they found the money, and the operation went well.
The family can head home to Nigeria after a series of month-long check ups, the surgeon said.

39  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Mothers Make Money Selling Placenta Of Their Babies on: 4-09-2013 08:13 PM
Selling of placenta by desperate women who have just given birth is the booming trade in Abuja, a development which has reached alarming proportions.
Chika Mbonu, a local midwife in Abuja said, “I was first approached by two middle aged men when I was in Akwanga in Nasarawa State two years ago; in fact that was the first time I heard of it. I was shocked to my bone marrow that I had to scream for them to leave my house immediately. It was after they left that I found out that they had already met one of my relatives who directed them to me and I had to start warning and enlightening all my patients never to give in to anyone who demands for their placenta for any amount.”
Dorcas Ochugbo, a resident of New Karu in Nasarawa, has also been approached by one of these merchants. “It was after the delivery of my second baby at one maternity home in Masaka. The woman came and offered me N500,000 for my placenta. When I asked what she needed it for, she claimed that she works for a cosmetics company who uses it for production of its products. I asked her to wait for my husband to come so they can discuss but she left and promised to come back and never returned.
Also speaking on the issue, an Abuja based legal practitioner, Onuorah Chinanuekpere, said that section 216 (e) of the panel code law states that “whoever is in possession of or has control over any human remains which are used or are intended to be used in connection with the worship or invocation of any juju shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.”
“Hence going by the provisions of the law, it could be interpreted to mean that any person in possession of the placenta, which medical practitioners see as human remains, and is found to be using same for witchcraft or juju, should be penalized,” he said. “This is the reason why medical doctors strictly urge mothers to bury same after child birth.”

These cheeky pastors of these days can go an extra mile just to take advantage of your circumstances.

Obviously this lady (pictured) went for a solution to her saddening problem, to someone she could really explain how she feels.
Surprisingly the pastor, like a doctor, who had gained confidence, took advantage of this to solve her problem.
The result will definitely be known in 9months, that is if her husband lets her live till then…..
