81  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Robbers attack house, hold occupants hostage on: 3-09-2013 08:26 AM
Some occupants of a house  on Oreofero Street in the Bariga area of Lagos State were on Saturday held hostage by a group of armed robbers who attacked them.

The robbers, suspected to be cultists and numbering about 15, were said to have stormed the area about 4.30am.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the occupants, who were tenants in the building, were attacked by the robbers who gained access into the house with a ladder.

An eyewitness, who identified himself as Mr. Kunle Oloyede, said he nearly ran into the robbers as he wanted to do ablution for morning prayer.

He said, “I came out from my shop where I had spent the night to make ablution before saying my morning prayer.

“I heard screams coming from the building. Within 10 minutes, I saw a group of armed robbers running from the house towards my direction.”

Oloyede said he ran back into his shop for safety. From his hiding place, he heard the robbers blaming one another for allowing him to escape.

PUNCH Metro gathered that some occupants of the building were beaten up, while others were attacked with matchetes. It was said that the robbers went from room to room, demanding for money, phones and other valuables.

About N150,000, four laptops, an iphone and a BlackBerry were said to have been carted away by the robbers.

A vehicle belonging to one of the residents of the house was also said to have been vandalised by the robbers who shot sporadically into the air.

It was gathered that other houses in the area had suffered similar fates from robbers in the past.

There was no response from the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, when she was contacted.

82  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NDLEA seizes liquid drug disguised as vegetable oil on: 3-09-2013 08:18 AM
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has seized the “first illegal shipment” of liquid methamphetamine to South Africa.
The methamphetamine which weigh seven kilogrammes was disguised as vegetable oil.
It was learnt that anti-narcotic officials made the discovery at the cargo section of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos during a routine check.
A customs-licensed agent, who brought the consignment for shipment through a South African Airline flight, was also said to have been arrested by the agency.
NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, confirmed the arrest and seizure.
He said, “This is the first seizure of liquid methamphetamine. There were six containers in all but only two were found with vegetable oil, while the remaining four contained liquid methamphetamine. With the assistance of our forensic personnel, we were able to extract the crystallised methamphetamine which weighed 7kg.”
Liquid methamphetamine is said to be formed when methamphetamine crystals are dissolved in water. The water can be heated, leaving the drug in solid forms.
The NDLEA had in 2012, uncovered three methamphetamine factories in Lagos and one in Anambra states.  The production of methamphetamine is said to have grave health implications for those involved and others living within the immediate vicinity.
The suspect, a 31-year-old native of Imo State, Ugochukwu Okoroji, said he owned the seized drug.
He said, “I started living in Lagos in 2003, but I started working as a clearing and forwarding agent in 2008. I have been struggling to make ends meet without success. I have already told the NDLEA officers before their examination that the consignment belonged to me. By the time they discovered the drug, I was very unhappy.”
Chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, commended the discovery.
He said, “The NDLEA will continue to prevent illegal drug trade through effective drug law enforcement as well as anti-drug abuse advocacy campaign.”

83  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Police arrest 2, recover 2 locally made guns in Enugu on: 3-09-2013 07:25 AM
The police in Enugu have arrested two young men, who were in possession of two locally-made double-barrel guns concealed in a bag while travelling from Enugu to Port Harcourt, Rivers State in a mass transit bus, Sunday.A fake official of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Prince Gabriel Obasi, from Oduma in Aninri Local Government Area of the state has also been apprehended by the police for impersonation and extortion.
The two suspects now being detained for illegal possession of firearms, were arrested by operatives of 3, Squadron Police Mobile Force, Awkunanaw Enugu on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway during a stop-and-search on the bus conveying them from Enugu to Rivers State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrests, yesterday, said the two men identified as Ernest Nwodo and Ugochukwu Ifeanyi, boarded the bus at Garki, Enugu and when the policemen on stop-and-search close to the Enugu and Abia State boundary conducted a search on the vehicle with number plate BH 948 ENU, they found the two guns hidden in a Bagco sack.
Fake NAFDAC official
Amaraizu said Prince Obasi was apprehended by the eagle eyed policemen on August 30, 2013 following a report by a victim at Awgu in Enugu State that the suspect visited his shop at Orie Awgu Market, where he presented himself as an official of NAFDAC and demanded his liquor licence.
He was said to have demanded and collected N10,000 from the complainant for selling  local gin popularly, called  kaikai without authorisation.
The suspect, according to Amaraizu, confessed to the crime of impersonating NAFDAC officials after his arrest and pleaded for forgiveness.

84  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Mosquitoes can ‘smell’ humans at night – STUDY on: 3-09-2013 07:24 AM
A team of researchers have published in Naturethat the major malaria vector in Africa, the Anopheles gambiae mosquito, is able to smell major human host odorants better at night.
The study reports an integrative approach to examine the mosquito’s ability to smell across the 24-hour day and involved sensory physiological, and behavioral techniques. The researchers examined the role for a major chemosensory family of mosquito proteins, odorant-binding proteins in the daily regulation of olfactory sensitivities in the malarial mosquito.
It is thought that OBPs in the insect antennae and mouth parts function to concentrate odorant molecules and assist in their transport to the actual olfactory receptors, thereby allowing for odorant detection. The team revealed daily rhythmic protein abundance of OBPs, having higher concentrations in the mosquito’s sensory organs at night than during the day. This discovery could change the way we look at protecting ourselves from the disease-carrying insectss.

No fewer than seven persons have been reportedly killed in an attack on Adu village in Atakad Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State by about 20 gunmen, yesterday. The Atakad people suffered similar fate last May, which led to the killing of no fewer than 30 members of the communities and the displacement of about 10,000 others, who live on the Atakad hills in the council, about 240km south of Kaduna city, the state capital.
However, six Fulani men were later arrested by youths in Zankan village, about 10km from the scene of the incident, after they were seen removing blood stained clothes and wearing new ones to board a waiting vehicle. Police later confirmed the incident.
A resident, who does not want his name mentioned, said: “About 20 men came to Adu village through Zankang forest, shooting and moving from one house to another slaughtering people.
“One person was killed on top of the hills, while some others were slaughtered at Adu village.”
Council boss speaks
Chairman of Kaura Local Government, Kumai Bodu, told Vanguard: “I was woken up this morning around 5am and told that Fulani gunmen had killed seven people and injured some.
“I don’t know what is going on here. If it is the Fulani, then I want to say that there is no basis for trust again.
“We have had all kinds of meeting with them here and they all assured us that no such attacks will ever occur again. We are still studying the situation.”
Arrested
An eyewitness said some gunmen were seen moving to a bus parked by a road side at about 6am by the youths of the area, who immediately alerted the security agencies.
The source said: “When we rounded them up as they were about entering the bus, we called the security agencies and they came and picked them to Manchok Police Station before some military men took them to Kafanchan.”
When contacted, Kaduna State Police Spokesman Aminu Lawan, confirmed that six people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
He said: “There was an attack in Adu village and people were killed. The security men were able to arrest six people. I cannot tell the number of casualties for now.

86  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Group to stand surety for stowaway kid on: 3-09-2013 07:20 AM
De Raufs’ Volunteer Group, yesterday, formally applied to stand as surety for 13-year-old Daniel Oikhena, who was arrested after emerging miraculously from the wheel compartment of an Arik Air flight from Benin Airport to Lagos on August 24.
Master Oikhena, who had since been kept in custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, had outrun the security personnel at the Benin Airport to board the flight to Lagos.
De Raufs’, a group extolling the leadership qualities of Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, had offered Master Oikhena scholarship up to university level to help him realise his dream of traveling by air legitimately.
Director General of the group, Amitolu Shittu, who confirmed the development yesterday, disclosed that a team of lawyers of the group led by Yinka Muyiwa and Nafiu Adeniyi were at the Shangisha office of SSS to apply for administrative bail for Master Oikhena.
He said: “As you are aware, we have offered the boy scholarship up to university level and we want to follow that up first with his release from custody. The boy has been kept in custody beyond the constitutionally approved period and we are keen to secure his release so that we can fully concentrate on his education,” Shittu explained.
When asked what transpired at the SSS office, Shittu said: “Yes, the SSS officials told our lawyers that the boy was not detained but merely delayed for security reasons and we want to believe them. They are asking that the mother of the boy should come for him and that he would be released Monday.
“On our part, the Lagos State Coordinator of De Raufs’ has been asked to make necessary accommodation arrangements for the boy and his mother, but should they fail to release him as promised, we will be compelled to proceed to court to seek his immediate release,” Shittu threatened.

89  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Two Men Fight Over Woman And Her Five Children on: 3-09-2013 01:17 AM
Two men, Anyaso Udeh from Abia State, and another man identified as Gabriel  from Delta State,  are locked in a fierce battle over a grandmother, Mrs Patricia Osadebe, and her five children over who among them is the rightful husband and father of the five children delivered by the woman in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Both men claimed to have married Patricia and had children from her. Gabriel said he married Patricia and paid her bride price and so, she is his legitimate wife and the children belong to him.
Udeh on his part claimed that despite the fact that he did not pay Patricia’s bride price, he is the biological father of the five children.
According to Patricia, she married Gabriel more than 20 years ago and they had a daughter who is now married and has kids. She later left Gabriel in Delta State and came to Lagos and lived with Udeh from Abiriba in Abia State as husband and wife and had five children and she decided to go back to her former husband, Gabriel, last year, with her five children and claimed that the children belong to him.
Udeh is pleading that if Patricia has decided to go back to Gabriel, her family should allow him take custody of his children in the interest of peace and justice.
When Gabriel was contacted, he said he had taken his wife and children back  and declined to make further comment.
The head of Patricia’s family in Lagos, Chief Agumba said the family does not recognize  Udeh because there was no proper marriage between him and their daughter, Patricia. and since Gabriel properly married her according to their culture and tradition in Delta State, the children belong to Gabriel. He said Gabriel is recognized as her husband and if indeed  Udeh wanted to marry Patricia, he would have paid the bride price to the family.

93  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / PDP:The Path To Disintegration on: 2-09-2013 09:01 PM
The ‘evil’ omen had for long clouded the party, but no one really expected the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to split on its 15th anniversary.
The Eagles Square venue for the Special National Convention had been decorated with 38 cake stands on which were placed inviting cakes representing one for each of the states of the country, the federal capital territory and one for the national party.
Ahead of the commencement of the convention, President Goodluck Jonathan had successfully mobilised most of the party’s powerful governors to ride with him in a bus to the convention ground. The sight of the party’s governors, including the “five rebel” northern governors entering the convention ground in the same vehicle was to buttress the sense of unity that party elders desperately sought to portray.
That sense of unity was also something the president conveyed in his speech as he compared the survival and unity of the party with its original contemporaries formed about the same time in 1998. “Of the three political parties registered in 1998, and I want you to listen, only PDP has retained its singular identify and core vision as a political movement till date while others have been imploded along the way or subsumed their identity in search of political direction and relevance,” President Jonathan declared in his speech to the special national convention of the PDP last Saturday.
It was as such an irony that on the day that the party clocked 15 years that the self proclaimed largest political party in Africa split into two. It was the first time that the PDP which had for most of its 15 years trudged on the path of crisis would be splitting into two major factions with its elected political office holders identifying with different factions.
Dr. Jonathan it appeared had for some time had a sense of foreboding that the party entrusted to him by fate was slipping from him. Penultimate weekend, the president met with one of his strongest foes among the governors, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwanso in the presidential villa. At that meeting, the president it appeared, seemed to nudge the governor to retrace his step from the internal dissension that he, Kwankwanso and four other governors of Sokoto, Jigawa, Adamawa and Niger had been fuelling in the last few months.
Also last weekend, less than 48 hours to the convention, the president also met with Governor Babatunde Aliyu of Niger State. Aliyu like Kwankwanso the week before appeared to be conciliatory after the meeting, telling State House reporters that he remained a member of the PDP. The sense of urgency by the president and his minders to mend fence with the five ‘rebel’ governors was apparently based on intelligence reports that the opposition within the PDP was already making decisive moves to fracture the party based on the long simmering crisis that had pitched some of the governors against the president and the national leadership of the party as represented by the National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
At the centre of the crisis is the allegation by many of the governors that the president has completely taken over the party, punishing all those perceived to be against his 2015 presidential effort. Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State had been suspended from the party on the basis of allegations of being opposed to Jonathan’s 2015 alleged ambition or having a presidential or vice-presidential ambition of his own.
While the president played the game of reconciling with the governors, the governors apparently did not believe the president was sincere. So it was not surprising that in the days preceding the convention that many of the governors sustained their consultations which was now focussed on how they could sustain their political relevance in the polity given what they assumed was the determination of the president and Tukur to crush all opposition to the president’s 2015 ambition.
Along the way the governors also established contact with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who like some of the governors, was also losing relevance in the party to the new forces loyal to the president. But teaming up with Atiku had a problem for the governors given the problems between Atiku and his home governor, Murtala Nyako, one of the five rebel governors. Engagement in politics Atiku and Nyako have had a bitter-love relationship in recent times since the latter’s full engagement in politics in 2006.
Nyako it is remembered was a direct beneficiary of the onslaught against Atiku by the forces of Olusegun Obasanjo who paralysed Atiku’s political machinery in his home base using Senator Jibril Aminu to plant Nyako as governor in 2007. However, following his problems with Aminu, Nyako sought help from Atiku who mobilised domestic support to help Nyako win his re-election two years ago. At that time it was alleged that there was a quiet understanding that Nyako would support Atiku for his own presidential campaign in 2015.
However, following that, Nyako was alleged to have reneged as he again resumed fighting Atiku and sided with Tukur against Nyako. So with both Nyako and Atiku forced against the wall by the Jonathan forces, it was apparent to all that the governors had to combine forces with Atiku to confront the president. The advantage Atiku brought to the table was his nationwide organisation and structure which the governors lacked being that they were limited to their states.
But before they could forge alliance with Atiku the issue of the problem between the former vice-president and Nyako had to be sorted out. Rebel governors The task apparently fell on Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, perhaps the most experienced of the seven rebel governors. Lamido was the one who was dispatched to meet Atiku last Friday to prepare room for a formal reconciliation between him and Nyako.
The details of the meeting between Lamido and Atiku in Atiku’s Asokoro, Abuja residence were not immediately known, but it was learnt that the ground rules for the rapprochement with Nyako were established. It is, however, difficult to believe that the governors would have gone ahead with the split on Saturday but for the events that happened on the convention ground.
While many of the dissents who met the president in the last few days complained that the president did not bring anything to the table, they were further grieved by what some described as the brazen effort by Tukur and the party’s handlers to take what was remaining in their hands from them.
After the president’s speech on Saturday in which he highlighted the unity of the PDP and how it had defied all odds and remained one despite the fractionalisation of the opposition, and as the convention moved into election mood, the ‘dissident’ governors were pissed off by the seeming circulation of what was described as a unity list allegedly endorsed by the presidency.
That apparently was the last stab. When the 16 members of the National Working Committee, NWC resigned in deference to a report of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC that their election was irregular, there was a general understanding that all of them would be returned at the special convention.
However, for Tukur and his allies in the presidency, the election offered them the opportunity to do away with non-conformists in the party leadership who were seen as allies of the governors or opponents of Tukur. Dr. Sam Jaja who was nominated as the deputy national chairman by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was the first target. He was removed on the unity list and replaced by Prince Uche Secondus, a long time party veteran and associate of former Rivers State governor, Dr. Peter Odili.
Equally troubling was the decision of the Electoral Committee to remove elected delegates from Rivers, Adamawa and Anambra States following the spate of crises in the states. Given that the PDP governors of Adamawa and Rivers states could not bring delegates to the convention, it was not difficult for them to take their long planned walk from the party. So as the president rounded up his speech and as Mrs. Patience Jonathan came down to cut the 15th anniversary cake, the ‘rebel’ PDP governors commenced consultations.
Kwankwanso and Lamido as if in a final salutation to the party made a tour round Eagle Square and from there proceeded to the Shehu Yar`Adua Centre where they were joined by Atiku and the other governors including Amaechi who was not at the convention ground, having been suspended from the party three months ago. Atiku’s drama at the Eagle Square Atiku on his part had made some drama at the Eagle Square when he against tradition refused to sit in the VIP stand preferring to sit with delegates from his native Adamawa State.
“The essence of this is to show that the party belongs to the people and to convey to everyone that those in the VIP stand who now control the party have lost touch with the people and Turaki is doing this to buttress his opinion that the party must be returned to the people,” an associate of the former vice-president told Vanguard ahead of the walkout on Saturday.
But how far the dissidents can go remains an issue. The first issue is for them to unify among themselves and bury their own individual political differences and objectives under a united dream of overwhelming the Jonathan led PDP. Reaction of the president As a step towards that move, the seven governors were yesterday at press time engaged in a meeting with Atiku in Atiku’s residence in Abuja where they were aiming to bury differences between Atiku and Nyako.
Following that, the rebels who are indeed calling themselves the New PDP, hope to gauge the reaction of the president to their move. As a source in their camp disclosed, their plan is to see if the president would respond positively to their issues and if he does there could be some talking, but if not, the new faction of the PDP would then seek to explore options open to it.
Among the options, is going to join the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM already registered as a political party and believed to be the child of Atiku or forging ahead with their own party, the Voice of the People. In the end, the governors could register the VOP and allow the PDM to co-exist with it as a way of diverting votes from the PDP, given the closeness of PDM to PDP on the ballot paper. The temptation to sustain the rebellion is fired by the popularity of the rebellion among some other party faithful.
A number of women who were opposed to the emergence of Dr. Kema Chikwe as the national women leader including some women with nationwide name recognition it was learnt, are already making contact with the Baraje-led faction to team up with it. Another governor from the Northwest who did not join the boycott, Vanguard gathered yesterday, had also made contact to join the rebellion. Yesterday, the president and his associates were in an overdrive to stem the rebellion.
President Jonathan met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is a patron of the five northern rebel governors apparently to bring him into the trouble shooting mission. A meeting between the president and the rebel governors it was also learnt has been arranged for late last night. The meeting was yet to take off as at press time.

94  Forum / The Buzz Central / Justin Bieber Lost $40,000 Gold Chain At Club Brawl on: 2-09-2013 08:50 PM
Justin Bieber’s night out over the Labor Day weekend didn’t seem to turn out as planned. Pictures on the internet showed the teen Canadian singer involved in a physical altercation with another club-goer. During the brawl, he allegedly lost his gold chain worth $40,000.
The scuffle happened at Uniun Nightclub, a late-night establishment in downtown Toronto, around 3 in the morning of Saturday, August 31.

Early report suggested Bieber was attacked by a male party goer when he was leaving his VIP section to mingle with the regular crowd.
TMZ reported the man attempted to pull Bieber down by his shirt, but security was quick to intervene. The unnamed male was caught on camera getting tackled to the ground by the popstar’s bodyguard. He was said being escorted out of the club later on.
Orin Bristol, operations manager at the Adelaide St. W. nightspot, insisted it was not an attack. The manager claimed the male just approached the singer for pictures. “The fan was just a small little guy,” Bristol said as quoted by the Star, he wasn’t being aggressive.
“Security was a bit aggressive,” Bristol added. ‘There weren’t punches thrown really; it was more of a shoving match and pushing match.’

95  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Arik Stowaway Teenager: Gov. Aregbesola's Group To Secure His Release From Deten on: 2-09-2013 08:44 PM
A group of lawyers under the aegis of De Rauf Volunteer Group yesterday called for the release of Daniel Oikhena, stowaway boy, currently being detained by the Department of State Security Service (SSS).
Oikhena was arrested in Lagos for travelling inside the wheel compartment of an Arik Air plane from the Benin Airport.
The coordinator of the group, Mr Amitolu Shittu, however, told newsmen in Benin that the group was ready to secure the release of the boy from detention.
He said the group led by Mr Yinka Muyiwa would tomorrow meet with the SSS to secure his release.
Shittu decried the continued detention of the boy and appealed to the security agencies to release him without further delay. He said that the security agencies had enough time to carry out their investigation and urged them not keep the boy longer than necessary.
“They have had enough time to carry out their investigations. We are ready to stand as guarantor to the boy and if the security agencies are not ready to release him, they should charge him to court where we are again ready to defend the innocent boy.
“We believe he is just an innocent child who should not be blamed for the security lapses in the airport. The security lapses in Benin Airport have further proved that Nigeria is not secure and so the boy should not be made to suffer unduly,” he said.

96  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Flying Eagles’ Ajayi Shines In Arsenal Trials on: 2-09-2013 08:36 PM
Nigeria Under 20 defender Oluwasemilogo Ajayi shone like a million stars for the Arsenal U-21 team in a friendly against Blackburn Rovers.
The towering defender apart from being solid in the defence got a goal for Arsenal in 3-0 thrashing of Rovers at Leigh Sports Village.
The 19-year-old Nigeria star, who is at Arsenal on trials from Charlton Athletic, gave coach Steve Gatting’s Arsenal U-21 side the lead in the 18th minute with a header off Kristoffer Olsson’s cross.
It was certainly the right way for the centre-back to make a positive impression on his potential future employers. It is no secret that Arsenal are short of defenders at this level, although, on this early evidence, Ajayi appears a far more promising prospect than fellow trialist Ramy Bensebaini.
Daniel Boateng and another Nigerian, Chuba Akpom, scored the other goals for Arsenal.
Ajayi featured for Nigeria U-20s at the Toulon International tournament in France earlier this year, but was later dropped for the World Cup party.

“The biggest lesson I learnt was not to trust anyone. The person you trust may eventually disappoint. Then I was the greatest fool but today I am the wisest and happiest.
Marrying Ayo Adesanya then was like boarding a ‘one-chance’ vehicle. It was like I could never come across a woman I can love like that not knowing I was just being foolish.
If not that she had a baby for me, I would have revealed a lot about her. Will just keep them to myself in the interest of our son. But I was agitated when I read that she wants to remove the tattoo on her hand bearing our logo – No Fear.
She is free to do but what about the one on her ass where my name was written bold, Omogoriola Hassan? How is she going to remove that? That is stupid of her.
If at all you don’t like someone again, that doesn’t mean you need to go to that extent. But believe me she’s still thinking about me because if she’s not she wouldn’t be thinking about removing my tattoos on her body.

98  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Why I Can't Remove Tukur As PDP Chair' - President Jonathan on: 2-09-2013 08:29 PM
The presidency on Monday clarified that President Goodluck Jonathan cannot just remove national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, as doing so without following laid down processes and provisions of the constitution as well as the Electoral Act would amount to acting outside the ambit of the law.
Special Adviser on political matters to the president, Ahmed Gulak who gave the presidency's position also expressed surprise that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who was seriously indebted to the party has chosen to be among those tearing the PDP down instead of showing gratitude by protecting it.
Addressing State House correspondents at the presidential villa, Gulak said, "I am surprise because Atiku is supposed to know more than another person that there is no party like PDP. He left PDP and went to ACN and he came back to PDP, because he discovered that outside PDP there is no party, so he had to come back and he was even given the waiver to contest the primaries election in 2011.
"Atiku should be grateful to PDP. Atiku is indebted to PDP and the best way to continue to pay the debt is to protect PDP."
Asked whether the seven governors who broke away from the party requested the removal of the PDP national chairman, the political adviser said, "You cannot remove the national chairman like that. He was elected and you will remember that of all the offices, INEC observed that only the positions of the national chairman and the financial secretary were properly done and that was why we had to do the special national convention to properly elect the other officers," he said.

Ara is Nigeria's female talking drummer. She and her former husband went their separate ways 3 years after getting married, when their marriage didn't work out.
Her then husband maltreated her, and she later discovered he had another marriage aside theirs. Here is what she said about marrying again.
I have someone i have a strong feeling for but i guess my fear of commitment has kept me from going further. I am going through counseling now, but i am afraid to live with a man again.
I want to love again, i want to have more children but my fear is still there. My marriage didn't pack up because of another woman. No, it is much deeper than that for me.
I believe a man is capable of sharing his affection. after all, most of us come from a polygamous setting. having more than one wife does not stop you from being happy, the tendency of getting violent will not even be there. it has not been easy but i don't want to make another mistake.
Then people will say she is the one that has the problem. i want to get married but i am being careful. I want to love again, share and care but i have to be careful. there is no age you cannot find love. For now, i am in a relationship.

The death of a Nigerian girl, Queen Ebimaho, has left some Nigerians in Abidjan, living with fear of insecurity. Ebimaho, was on Aug. 24, found dead in a pool of her own blood inside her room in a brothel in Ajame, Abidjan.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the corpse of the girl who only arrived Abidjan about two months ago had a series of punctures. She is said to have been brought into the country by a Nigerian lady identified as Joy Larry.
Many Nigerian girls who are regularly trafficked into the country take to prostitution as a means of survival. Although no case of death has occurred in the past six months, many of the girls face undue harassment and intimidation from men who patronise them.
Meanwhile some Nigerians residing in Ajame who spoke to journalists have accused the Consular Officer in the Nigerian Embassy, Mr Obinna Ogbonna of treating issues concerning Ebimaho’s death with levity. They accused the consular officer of failing to make official report to the relevant authorities in the host country to ensure adequate investigations into the cause of the dead.
According to them, the embassy also refused to play any role in the burial of the dead Nigerian in spite of repeated calls on the consular officer.
When contacted, Ogbonna confirmed the death of the Nigerian, saying: “she died from injuries that looked like stabs from a yet to be identified person, “We took the matter officially to the Ivorian police and we were told that she was stabbed.
“But the girl in question has no consular card, our investigations show that she is just about two months old in the country,’’ he said.
He said the corpse was taken for burial by a Nigerian identified as Osas, who also resides in Ajame without any official information to the embassy.
