2  Forum / Sports / Mikel scores first ever Premier League goal on: 22-09-2013 02:14 PM

Chelsea defeated Fulham 2-0.

Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, on Saturday, September 21, 2013, scored his first ever English Premier League goal for his London club, Chelsea, after 185 games and seven years for the Blues.

Mikel justified the faith reposed in him by Coach Jose Mourinho as he doubled Chelsea’s lead in the 84th minute in the game against Fulham at the Stamford Bridge.

Oscar had previously put the home side ahead with his 52nd minute goal. The past week has been tumultuous for Jose Mourinho’s side as they suffered a shock League defeat away to Everton and in the midweek a more surprising home loss against Swiss side, FC Basel, in the UEFA Champions League.

The three points earned from Saturday’s London derby has now shot Chelsea to the top of the League as they overtake Liverpool who suffered a shock home loss earlier in the day.

3  Forum / The Buzz Central / I Can't Wear One Clothe Twice -- Yvonne Vixen Ekwere on: 21-09-2013 10:23 PM

The tv presenter told punch the reason why celebrities like her can not wear a cloth twice:

Quote
Whenever I am on the Red Carpet and paparazzi take my pictures, I always say ‘chei! So I will not wear this dress again?’ The pictures will be plastered everywhere including the Internet and magazines. It spoils show for me. It is not that we don’t like wearing a particular dress for more than one event, but we’ll rather not do it.But you will abuse me if I repeat a dress.

People would write that we repeated a dress. Because of that, I wear a dress and since I know I will not wear it again, I dash it out. I give my assistant my clothes. I give to family members and friends as well. But then, I auction my clothes to my friends on twitter.

Do you consider her idealogy as genuine and reasonable? For me, I think it's a brilliant one.

4  Forum / The Buzz Central / Thanks to Obasanjo’s ‘Insult’. It Made me a superstar" –Eedris Abdulkareem on: 21-09-2013 09:46 AM

Controversies and scandals aside, Afro Hip Hop artiste, Eedris Abdulkareem, is happy that he chose the path of music. Anytime his name is mentioned in a gathering, many incidents readily come to mind. For some people it is his scuffle with American rapper, 50 Cents, during his visit to Nigeria, in 2004. Others may choose to remember his numerous swipes at colleagues in his songs.

When asked to comment on the high point of his career, his face lights up in a smile:
“The best to ever happen to me was former President Olusegun Obasanjo talking back at me, calling me a mere street boy whose father is not known. The president took me to the next level, I became a super star, and now people know me, because Obasanjo put me in his level.”
As if these achievements are not enough, the rapper, who has been running an independent label, La Kreem Records, since 2004, is happy because he has succeeded in keeping the home front intact in spite of controversies.

“I love my family and wife so much that I don’t joke with them. I have been married for 13 years, though they thought it would last three months. I proved to them that it is possible to be a family man and artiste at the same time. I am an inspiration to other married celebrities,” he boasts.

Things can only get better, as far as Eedris is concerned. With a sixth album due in November, the Osun State native, who says he has a few friends in the industry, tries to clear a few issues off his chest.

“I don’t need endorsements, but I am cool with the shows that Mike Adenuga has been giving me. Shows are enough for me. I will endorse my own product which I am putting together. I need more shows because they pay my bills. If I tell you I want endorsements you may think that most of the things I sing about are for endorsement. I don’t want it, but I do it for other Nigerian artistes so they can live big. But if you must endorse, choose people that will add value to your life.

Endorsement is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. My only grouse is that abroad, endorsed artistes add value to other people’s lives. Here in Nigeria, it is the opposite,” he says.

The 56yrs old Pastor, who was said to have been seriously embarrassed sometime ago by a man who caught him with his wife, has refused to change his ways. He picked a runs girl around midnight for a good time and took her to a joint where she satisfied him.

However, at the end of the show, the lady decided to reveal her identity to the pastor:
She said he picked her up on Friday night along Club Road in the Nakuru area of Kenya. "For sex. I mean that’s why he picked me. That’s what I do, I’m a prostitute," she confirmed.

She said after the pastor enjoyed himself, she confronted him and revealed to him that she is a members of his church in city. According to her, he was shaken and pleaded with her not to expose him to any other member of the church. He gave her Sh20,000 instead of the usual Sh500 she collects for short time.

Somehow the story got out as the lady later told one of her friend who leaked the "secret". The matter is said to be causing serious disquiet in the church, as many are wondering if the man is really a pastor.

A mother, Vicky Griffiths, has spoken of her shock after she gave birth to a baby girl with two fully formed front teeth.
According to her, she was so shocked that even though she had planned to Bosom feed her little baby before giving birth, she changed her mind after seeing the newborn’s teeth.
The new baby Eva Faith astounded nurses and midwives as well as her family when she was born.
DailyMail reports that initially, nobody realised and it was only when Mrs Griffiths went to have a bath after giving birth that her husband Steven spotted the teeth in his daughter’s lower jaw.

Mrs Griffiths, a 26-year-old child minder, said:
Quote
‘When I came back into the room Steven said, “she’s got teeth, you know! We were in shock, and so were the midwives.
She had her mouth closed to begin with, so we didn’t notice. It was quite bizarre to see them.
I kept asking the midwives and nurses what I could give Eva if she was in pain, but nobody was able to answer me. They just kept going away and then coming back with more people to look at Eva’s teeth. Nobody could believe it.
When we came out of hospital I went to see my GP and he said that he had never heard of this happening before. Midwives with 25-years’ experience were also saying they’d never seen it.
She added: ‘I had been planning to Bosom feed, but when I saw Eva’s teeth I was put off. I don’t think anybody could blame me!’
Little Eva Faith was born on September 8 and is now at home with her parents and older sisters Elizabeth, seven, and Emily, five, in Redcar, Cleveland.

13  Forum / The Buzz Central / AY, Comedian Pleads With FG for Creation of Entertainment Ministry on: 19-09-2013 06:03 PM

Ayo Makun a.k. a AY is clamouring for Entertainment Ministry and wants the Ministry of Art, Culture and Tourism to exempt itself from handling entertainment, music, movie and comedy matters.
The rich entertainer is said to be pleading with the Federal Government to set up a ministry to oversee the booming entertainment industry in the country.

"The CEO of AY Show feels that the entertainment industry is too big to be put under the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism," said one of his aides.

The humourist, however, is of the opinion that if the government decides to set up an entertainment ministry, it should put people who have paid their dues in the same industry.

Though, some are murmuring that AY is trying to get attention in the presidency as he's one of the few ones that has not got federal or state appointment.

14  Forum / Politics / Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah Accused of Involvement in Multi-Billion Contract on: 19-09-2013 03:34 PM

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Stella Adaeze Oduah, has been accused of allocating funds for multiple sham contracts ostensibly for the rehabilitation and upgrade of eleven airports across the country.

A petition by members of the National Union of Air Transport accuses Mrs. Oduah of touting the rehab projects as “quick-win” strategies to burnish President Goodluck Jonathan’s “transformation agenda.”

In a letter to the leadership of the Nigerian Senate in July, the petitioners detailed a series of scams at various levels in the allocation process of the contracts.

Incidentally, the minister has drawn praise from the Nigerian media for the ongoing airport remodeling projects. But the petitioners portray the exercise as an elaborate scam and daylight robbery of public funds. In the words of the petition, the projects are “calculated to dupe the unsuspecting Nigerian public.”

The petition discloses that the two-phase projects have become a four-level scam.

The first part was the ministry’s allocation of funds for “consultancy” service, which called for select firms to draw up designs and plans for the upgrade and rehabilitation of the airports. The second part was the allocation of the actual contracts to predetermined companies through a rigged tenders’ process that ignored advertising the jobs to attract qualified companies. The third and fourth segments of the alleged scam involved the repetition of the first two steps under a spurious tag called “Phase II.”

The petitioners alleged that, prior to the award of the main contracts to “upgrade and rehabilitate” the airports, Mrs. Oduah had handed out consultancy jobs estimated at N255 million. The contracts reportedly went to three crony firms without being advertised in order to attract bids from qualified companies.

The petition also alleged that the consultancy jobs were awarded without first obtaining certificates of “No Objection” from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), thereby breaching the due process set out to guide the award of contracts.

According to the petitioners, Mrs. Oduah “contracted three consultant firms to carry out consultancy services for ‘urgent upgrade’ and rehabilitation of terminal buildings in the eleven airports in the country. This, she labeled Phase 1 of the airport remodeling exercise.” The unionists added that, before informing the Tenders Board about the allocation of contracts, the minister had predetermined and given out consultancy jobs to the three firms in a selective tender mode.

“Messrs Ngonyama Okpanum and Associates; Messrs Design Union Consulting Ltd and Messrs Triad Associates Ltd were awarded contracts for consultancy works on the upgrade of the airports at the sums of N99, 179,507.17; N60, 986,730.46 and N95, 520,011.93 respectively without advertisement, certificate of No Objection from the BPP or approval by the tender’s board,” the union stated.

16  Forum / The Buzz Central / Nigerian Actress In Bosom Surgery Scandal on: 19-09-2013 10:12 AM

Since her return from the Republic of Cyprus, Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has landed in a messy Bosom  surgery scandal. The actress recently traveled to the aforementioned country to further her education. On coming back to Nigeria, she became a totally different individual.

The once shy and timid actress has become very bold and more friendly. In a bid to re-launch her acting career in Nollywood, the actress shared some sex photos with fans and that’s how the whole controversy started.
Due to the virality of the rumour, the actress is speaking up through every possible means to tell fans she didn’t do any Bosom  enlargement surgery.

Hear what Yvonne Jegede said in a recent interview:
Quote
My features have always been the same from time immemorial. The thing is a lot of people have always seen me as that naïve, vulnerable girl who likes to cry a lot because those are the kind of roles I used to get before I left. The roles I got were roles I have to be a nice girl in the village, a girl who is begging to be loved, a girl who has made a mistake and who desperately wants to repent, a girl who people will feel sorry for, a girl who is from a poor home. So, I have my own personal life. What you see on TV has absolutely nothing to do with me. I will not cry for a man and grovel and be on the floor in tears with mucus all over my nose. No, I wouldn’t. But if the script says I should do that, I would.

I’m very surprised people judge me by my pictures. There was a blog that said, ‘Oh, we thought she was decent.’ I’m like because I’m taking pictures doesn’t mean I’m not decent and because I cry in movies does not make me decent. People who cry in movies that does not make them decent and because someone takes off her clothes on TV does not make her indecent. It is the way you now react when there’s nobody watching that makes you what you are. It was my birthday so I just went to the studio, trying to feel nice and I took pictures and that is all me, no surgery or implant.

Take a closer look at the above pictures again, and compare them. Do you think Yvonne Jegede did Bosom  surgery or is it fashion magic?

18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / My Kidnappers Released Me Willingly, Police Didn't Rescue Me –– Bishop Kattey on: 19-09-2013 09:05 AM

Archbishop of Niger Delta Province of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, has accused the Nigeria Police of lying over their claim that they secured his release from the dare-devil kidnappers who had abducted him penultimate Friday.
Briefing newsmen to share his 9 days experience in the den of kidnappers, Rev. Kattey thanked the Police for their efforts, but said that they were not the ones who rescued him.
“The Police did not rescue me, neither were they the ones who rescued my wife, Beatrice. I saw the Police for the first time two days ago, after the incident. I heard the statements made by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO. The police are telling lies. If you cannot trust the Police, then who can you trust? I told the Commissioner of Police and he has apologised.
“I know that they made efforts but they did not rescue us. A helicopter flew over the area more than 500 times, but the boys (kidnappers) were smarter. They held me in a thick forest and no one could see me there.

“On the day of my release (September 14), the kidnappers moved me and we trekked a number of kilometres till we got to a road. Then they gave me N200 and ordered me to walk towards a direction where I would get a bike. We thank God for His mercies because I wouldn’t even wish my enemy to go through that experience,” he said

Kattey, who is Dean of the Nigerian Anglican Communion, also said that he was not aware if any ransom was collected over his release, explaining that he was not tortured by his abductors.

He added that: “From my experience, the abductors are hungry and in dire need of means of livelihood. Some are adequately educated but lack the enabling environment to positively express themselves. If government will give the people potable water, light and good roads, they will change.”

20  Forum / The Buzz Central / NBC's Ban of Wizkid and Phyton is Appropriate. Even More Naija Songs Deserves it on: 19-09-2013 08:19 AM

Recently the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation came out with a list of NTBB songs (Not To Be Broadcast). Though such songs have been on the airwaves for months but I guess it’s better late than never. The songs are Wizkid’s ‘The Matter’ and Phyno’s ‘Man of the year’.

Quote
A few months back, I was driving in the same car with a Reverend Gentleman and we had one of those FM stations on the car radio that afternoon. Akon’s song with the chorus ‘ I wanna f**k you…f**k you out on the floor…’assaulted our ears. On radio? I had to join the shocked Reverend Father in making the sign of the cross even though I had switched to Pentecostalism years ago! Such was the shock

Quote
So, it was no surprise to the discerning ones amongst us when his new singles were laced with overtly raunchy suggestivism. Let us examine the lyrics of the banned single in question; ‘Back to the matter, open and close, touch your toes, oya baby..,’. Chai! May your children grow up in the ways of the Lord. I have nothing against the hard working Wizkid, in case some puerile minds begin to think in their usual template that ‘what’s Novia’s own?’ Or ‘He’s just jealous of Wizkid’s success’ which is a usual conclusion when critiques like these meant to correct an anomaly raise some dust.

Phyno is one interesting rap artiste I have been studying. He joins the league of rappers who rap in native lingo, following the footsteps of his artistic heralders, 2Shotz and Dat NIGGA Raw. Phyno understands the essence of showmanship and personal branding, what with his unique Mohawk hairstyle and his style of dressing.
Quote
I don’t understand Igbo very well but I have listened to the banned song ‘Man of the Year’ for controversial or lewd lyrics as well as his other songs. Here are some words I found:
Okereke okereke.. My guys no abaleke… N’ekperem ekpere Sika m fepu ka chekeleke Si mu kuwa k’elekera Na ezem k’ekelebe Ebughim otu mana m ga n’egbu ha ebelebe …something wey don enter don enter but if e nor gree enter, make you rub vaseline’

Quote
Wande Coal’s ‘KICK’ video should be banned off the national television space. Seriously, have you seen the ladies shaking their bums in that video?

Quote
Olamide is a great musical act who is making waves at present. We all have watched his gradual ascent for the past couple of years and he has succeeded in filling a void left open by the late Dagrin. I have my reservations about his latest video ‘Durosoke’ but that is not the video I’m recommending for non-broadcast. There’s one he calls ‘Stupid love’ which I believe promotes alcoholic inebriation; which I presume to be against the broadcasting rules.
In the video, Olamide in almost every cut is seen clutching a green bottle suggestively filled with either rum or brandy or some strong coloured spirits. He takes deliberate swigs from the bottle and even chants at a point in the song about feeling ‘high’. This video gets massive airplay on national stations. I think it should be yanked off.
