61  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Okonjo-Iweala Admits That $10.8b Is Missing on: 25-02-2014 08:53 PM

I have just been sent the following statement by the Nigerian finance ministry, which I understand it is putting out later today.

I am going to quote most of it, because it is gripping, in the context of the the decision of the Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan to suspend the central bank governor, Lamido Sanusi.

The gloss from the ministry goes like this:

"The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has asked for urgent action with regard to an independent forensic audit of conflicting claims of unaccounted funds made by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamdio Sanusi".

And here is a direct statement from Dr Okonjo-Iweala, the finance minister:

"My position on this has been clear from the start. The Ministry of Finance's reconciliation showed a shortfall of $10.8bn in NNPC remittances to the Federation account. After this, the conflicting claims continued with new figures such as $20bn being mentioned.

"So since 13th February I have called for an independent forensic audit.

"President Goodluck Jonathan indeed announced last night that there will be an investigation into whether there are any funds missing from NNPC. He also indicated that the correct process needs to be followed in this investigation and I understand that the entity that has the proper authority to initiate such an investigation is the Auditor-General of the federation.

"I therefore want to see the truth from an investigation under the auspices of the Auditor-General, which in my view should be undertaken as a matter of extreme urgency by independent external auditor."

65  Forum / The Buzz Central / Marketers Say They Will Not Lift Ban Until She Apologizes! on: 24-02-2014 11:07 AM

nollywood actress mercy
In November 2013 it was revealed that actress Mercy Johnson had been banned by The Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN) for "unbecoming attitude of the actress as it affects  her work.”

That was the official reason, the real reason had to do with her fees…Mercy Johnson who is currently the highest paid actress in Nollywood charges between N1.8 Million & N2 Million per movie

In the latest development concerning Mercy Johnson’s ban it has been gathered that the marketers have vowed not to lift the ban until the actress tenders a letter of apology to them through their  umbrella body, Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria, FVPMAN.

But according to Vanguard, all is not well with the rank and file in the marketers’ body since they slammed the ban on the actress.

Read more below:

According to a reliable source, while the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the association, Mr Nobert Ajaegbu granted an interview last year, disowning  the proposed ban of the actress, his aggrieved members who were dissatisfied with his action have refused to pay their dues to the association.
Following this development, Mr. Ajaegbu is said to have changed his position in order to give  peace a chance. He told HVP that he decided to retrace his steps after he found out that  Mercy Johnson actually committed all the things she was accused of. He said, “It was a case of established indiscipline on the part of Mercy Johnson,”

In a statement made available to HVP, Ajaegbu  who doubles as FVPMAN spokesman, addressed  some of the salient issues surrounding Mercy’s  alleged ban.
According to him, “We did not ban Mercy because; we have resolved never to play ourselves god in any one’s life.
We only resolved to severe our business relationship with her because she have shown strong disregard to the rules of professional conduct and abuse on the terms of  production contracts.”
Ajaegbu said, the ban was a “factor of mixed truth and falsehood. The issue in question has no bearing on her fee or charges as widely speculated. It is a function of misconduct, unjust and unfair treatment of film producers.  We are obviously not agitated over what Mercy is being paid because, we pay the bills. We are strongly agitated because we anticipate that professional justification ought to have been given to the contract to act or perform. We believe that the sanctity of contract ought to have been respected.”

He went on to say, “The facts as we know before are that some of our members contracted Mercy at a particular scale of charge, when she collected money from higher bidders, she disregarded the contracts at lesser price and to some, she gave stringent and unprofessional conditions. We had written a letter to her in this regard about a year ago. The letter was a private advice from our union as well as a caution. We thought it wise to first caution her in case it was an unconscious attitude. Her inconsiderate attitude of disregarding this untold hardship on producers leaves us with no option, than to severe this uncommon relationship. It is not a ban, but simply a survival strategy. We took our time to investigate these allegations and came to the conclusion that they are not spurious. We did strong internal engagements, disagreements before arriving at the actual prove of facts relating to this issue.
Since the speculation in late October, last year, we had anticipated her to demonstrate some sort of remorse.
What we see is more of blackmail and ridicule. What is said to the world by her publicist was the tale of how we are unable to afford her charges or  portray  our people as envious of what she is being paid.”

Well…damn! They really have it out for her

We are in love. He is a honest and genuine person. People will always say things about him, which obviously are not true. But this will not stop him from being him. 68  Forum / The Buzz Central / Why I left Presh -- Kcee reveals on: 24-02-2014 09:17 AM

After their surprise breakup,Kcee has become a superstar in his own right. However many wondered why they broke up..Was told that Kcee suggested they fake a breakup to gain media attention..So Presh agreed .Unknown to him Kcee was really serious about breaking up.So while Presh was waiting for him to come back, Kcee released songs and became a superstar leaving Presh in the cold....

Well, Kcee told Yes magazine his own reason below

"We thought we’ve been doing it for 12 years and we needed a change because the only thing that is constant is change. Just like the Yoruba adage that says that 20 children cannot play for 20 years. Although we never saw this coming, we always thought we would be together forever, but at the end of the day, we are doing it and we are loving it.Initially, I thought going solo was going to be stressful. I thought about how people were going to accept me as a solo artist knowing full well that I had been with Presh for about 12 years. Both of us were scared, but I thought that so far we can make people believe that we are good together as a group; we can also make them believe we can do it without each other and that was the belief. Even if you are twins, your focus can not be the same, your spirit and your drive might not be on the same platform at all times."

69  Forum / The Buzz Central / Doris Simeon Finally Talks About her Failed Marriage, Stella Damasus and her Ex- on: 24-02-2014 08:36 AM

In a Recent interview, The Nollywood Beauty who recently signed a 2 million naira movie deal in South Africa talked at length about her failed marriage.

The mother of one also spoke briefly about her ex-hubby, Daniel Ademinokan who eloped with her colleague, Stella Damasus.

SEE the Interview Below:

Interviewer: Did you ever imagine that you were going to be separated someday?

Doris Simeon: No, I never thought I would be separated someday. Yes, it definitely hit me when it happened. But life goes on.

Interviewer: But a lot of people had the impression that you couldn’t be bothered and that you wanted this freedom?

Doris Simeon: No, if I wanted the freedom, I have it now; so, why am I not exploring the situation? Instead of that, I am trying to make money. I have a lot of responsibilities. So, rather than sit down and mourn all day, I have to face the reality.

My mother was a strong woman and I learnt a lot from her. She went through a lot, which I knew of from when I was a little child. In spite of all that she went through, she kept moving on. My mom had a stroke and survived it; and she still looked radiant. My mom jumped from one trade to another. When I think of that, I would be like, this woman, na you born me, I must do that thing wey you teach us. Those are the things I just look back and then I just move on. I have a child that I need to work for, so that he won’t face the kind of suffering I faced in the future.

Interviewer: Will you consider marriage again?

Doris Simeon: I don’t know, but I am not ruling it out because I am human. I might just fall head over heels in love again. But let me still be doing what I am doing. Wherever the Lord takes me, I will go.

Interviewer: What would you do differently when you find love again?
Doris Simeon: I will probably right the wrong things I did then. I mean I will do the right thing three times over.

Interviewer: What were those things?
Doris Simeon: Can I even point them out? I can’t point them out.

Interviewer: Was it that you didn’t have enough time for the family?
Doris Simeon: It wasn’t that in anyway. It is just one of those things you have to deal with. People will say one thing or the other to defend their own sides. When I’m on set, I want to quickly do whatever I am doing. This is because I see a movie script as an examination; and when you have an examination you want to quickly do it and then relax. That is the way I work. I just want to do it and know that I am done with this script, so I can face my family. So, it’s not that I get carried away with work. I just want to do the best I can at that particular time that I am doing that job and get out from that set and face my family or face whatever I need to do next.

Interviewer: At a time, you and Daniel were one of the best couples in Nollywood. What could have gone wrong?
Doris Simeon: Anything could have gone wrong. Anything could have triggered a fire anywhere. You don’t know what might happen the next minute. We are just trying to make things go right, but God has the final say. Yes, things happen in life and till eternity you keep asking that question what went wrong. But if you dwell on that, you won’t move forward because everything that happens has God’s hands in it. There is a reason why anything happens and it has been written that it will happen that way.

Interviewer: After a year, what did you do?
Doris Simeon: Funny enough, after a year, I was like, ‘Doris, how do you think you want to move on with your life? What should you do to move on? That was when I decided not to dwell on the past; otherwise, I will go hungry. People that want to laugh at me are out there, so I will rather make them say, ‘Aha Aha, what’s happening? And I am moving ahead with my life.

Interviewer: What is the relationship between the two of you now, given that you have a child for him?
Doris Simeon: We have a child, so we talk. The boy is there, so why won’t we talk? We cannot be sworn enemies forever. Not every relationship leads to marriage, yet the people involved still talk.

Interviewer: But how do you feel knowing that your colleague is supposedly married to him?
Doris Simeon: She’s a woman and he is a man. Na man I go still follow so (laughs). In this industry, most of us are colleagues; it is not that we are close friends or something. No be say na my mama born am now.

70  Forum / The Buzz Central / Singer Tiwa Savage Was Irrelevant While She Was In UK – Punch on: 23-02-2014 08:43 AM

Below is a published post about Tiwa Savage in relation to the police incident that occurred recently.

Mavin Records’ first lady, Tiwa Savage, used to live in the UK before she returned to Nigeria. Of course, over there, she was relatively unknown. She once participated in the UK’s X factor. It didn’t get her the desired fame. Tiwa was still irrelevant while she was there and therefore wouldn’t have dared to assault a UK policeman.

However, when Tiwa came back to Nigeria, her talents blew up. She became recognised, got signed under one of the leading record labels, bagged endorsement deals here and there and became a popular face. Of course, she joined the league of the A-list acts that now laugh all the way to the bank. Now, Tiwa can afford to assault a Nigerian policeman as alleged. It was reported earlier in the week that the pretty singer was whisked away by the police for allegedly humiliating a policeman who apprehended her for violating traffic rules. Those who were there claimed Tiwa got down from her car and angrily removed the man’s beret. Not just a few condemned the alleged attitude. Tiwa may have lost some of her fans over the incident.

“Tiwa Savage is a disappointment for daring to remove a policeman’s cap. What point was she trying to make by such a crude act? Does she know that she is a role model to many, by virtue of being a star, and that her irresponsible behaviour goes far beyond the confines of her abode? I hope she realises her mistake and apologises to the police as well as her fans,” a fan said.

71  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Exposed: See How Sanusi Maneuvered His Way to Cover Up Multiple Billion Fraud on: 23-02-2014 01:22 AM

When the Financial Reporting Council Report was sent to Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on June 25, 2013, he’s fully aware that the game is over.

He allegedly brewed up his NNPC allegations to divert Nigerians attention from him by writing the president on September 27, 2013.

He succeeded in deceiving some, but his frauds can NEVER be covered.

Here are few of his fraudulent activities exposed by FRC audit

1] He donated N1b to BUK, Kano and wrote that he donated N4 million.
2] He wrote N40b debt of a bank without documentation and authority.
3] He invested $Billions in Malaysia Islamic Bank with no return on Investment to Nigeria.
4] He awarded 63 contracts valued over N1b each, without approval
5] He spent N1.257b for Lunch for his Police and Private Guards in a year.
6] He donated N1billion to a political party to build offices Nationwide.
7] He spent N4.5b to renovates his personal home without approval.
8] He spent N4billion on a CBN PH branch building that was already completed.
9] He wrote N2b Bogus checks to Airlines (some not registered in Nigeria) to distribute currency.
10) Claimed paying Nigerian Security Printing & Minting in 2011 N38.233b for the “printing of bank notes”. Company’s turnover in 2011 is only group is N29.370b from all customers including CBN.
11) Associated Airline was paid N1.025b in 2011, while the company was Dormant in the same year. (No Operation).

Operated Bogus Expense Heads To Hide Fraudulent Activities

… CBN Has Held An Account With A Balance Of N1.423 Billion For An Unknown Customer Since 2008.

Following Thursday’s suspension of Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Governor of the Central Bank by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, THEWILL has exclusively obtained a copy of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria report that ripped apart the 2012 audited financial statement of the apex bank and exposed the fraud, excesses and wastefulness of Sanusi and the CBN.

Sanusi had over the years projected an image of an anti-graft banker, activist, reformer and crusader against graft and waste in government, as well as the financial sector. Weeks before his ouster as CBN Governor, Mr. Sanusi had accused the NNPC of failing to remit billions of dollars in oil revenue to the federation account, a claim which the NNPC has continued to dispute.

The 13-page Council report emanated following Sanusi’s response to a query issued him in early 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan over the apex bank’s alarming reckless donations nationwide and its finances.

Whilst describing Sanusi’s response to the President’s query as “a clear display of incompetence, nonchalance, fraud, wastefulness, abuse of due process and deliberate efforts to misrepresent facts…”, the Council accused the suspended banker of several violations including but not limited to carrying out activities with financial implications that are not related to the CBN’s mandate, especially billions of naira in ambiguous payments to invoices referred to as “Centre of Excellence” and “Contribution to Internal National Security”, and the CBN’s claim that it paid N38.233 billion to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Plc in 2011 for the “printing of bank notes” whereas the turnover of the entire printing and minting company group is N29.370 billion.

The Council also accused Sanusi of rogue payments as air charter fees to Emirates Airways (N0.511b), Associated Airline (N1.025b) and Wing Airline (N0.425b), for the distribution of currency nationwide whereas Emirates does not operate local charter flights within Nigeria, Wing Air is unregistered in Nigeria with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and Associated Airlines did not have a billion naira turnover in 2011 and have no financial statements because the company said it had not had any significant operation in two years to warrant preparing a financial statement.

In lieu of the serious misconduct it found against Sanusi and the leadership of the CBN, the Council urged the President to exercise the powers conferred on him by “Section 11 (2) (f) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 or invoke Section 11 (2) (c) of the said Act and cause the Governor and the Deputy Governors to cease from holding office in the CBN and also direct the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria to carry out a full investigation of the activities of the CBN…”

73  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Married Pastor’s Affair Uncovered After Thief Stabbed Him While "Doing It" on: 22-02-2014 07:59 PM

A pastor was left red-faced after he was caught having sex in a car.A Bulawayo married preacher of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, ended up getting more than what he bargained for when an armed robber attacked and stabbed him twice while he was having sex with his girlfriend.

Rather than taking his girlfriend to a motel room, the married man of God, Douglas Mazengedza, drove her to the Centenary Park, where they had sex in the car.
While they were enjoying their adulterous relationship, a thief spotted the Toyota Fortuner. Seeing the couple having sex inside, the thief broke the window and stabbed the preacher before demanding money.

After being stabbed twice, the preacher who teaches his congregation not to commit the sin of adultery, handed over two cellphones and cash. Police responded to the scene and took a report of the incident.

The preacher was hospitalized for the stab wounds. Mazengedza reportedly told his wife that he had been stabbed and robbed while walking on the street in broad daylight. However, the police report told a different story and the preacher was exposed.

Nolyywood Actress Sikiratu Sindodo opened up to Punch about being the perfect wife material..She said people should ignore the tattoos & piercings..
“I know I will make a good wife. I cook well; I am not the outgoing type. If I am not working, I am at home. It is sad that when people see me outside, they have a different impression about me. I don’t know why, maybe it is because I am an actress. I am not like that, I pray five times a day. If I open the trunk of my car for you, my praying mat is there. I may not do that when I work all day but in the night I do so. People do not believe that I am close to God. When I into acting, it is different. I wear different kinds of clothes just to fit into the character I am playing at a particular time but I am different. That I have tattoos and piercings does not matter. Some people that do not have all these things are worse. I do not sleep around; they have a very bad impression about me. When I am dating a person, I make it known. I do not have to hide it that I am dating somebody. If I am dating a person and the person trusts me, my family knows about the person and knows what I can do, I don’t care about what anybody says.”

78  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "If I was the President, I would have sacked Lamido months ago" -- Charles Novia on: 22-02-2014 10:31 AM

If I was the President, I would have sacked Lamido months ago. His cup had runneth over with wines of insurbordination, contempt for the Commander-in-Chief and gross financial recklessness amounting to over N60 billion naira unchecked donations based on a nebulous “independence of the Central Bank of Nigeria”.
I am aware that the CBN Act gives full independence to the Central Bank but the act did not state that the CBN Governor should be an authority of Governance unto himself. He had succeeded in creating an opposition Government within the ambits of his independence. There was no hiding the disdain in which he held the President, a barely concealed contempt for the man “wey dey give you chop”.

Lamido has a Superiority Complex. Such people would confuse their bluntness for being rebels against a system. A loquacious gift is not a yardstick for political intelligence. Lamido crossed the line between keeping to his brief as CBN Governor and openly canvassing to be the next Emir of Kano or currying favours by donating billions to some institutions in those areas which would aid his royal ambitions.

For the record, I am as peeved as many Nigerians about the shortcomings of the Jonathan Administration in many areas. I also join millions of people in asking for full accountability of the NNPC ‘missing $20 billion’. But I also know a lot about heirachical politics and administration. The Guy who employs you is your f***king Boss! You disagree with him in private. You don’t come out allprima donna to undermine his authority because you have an opposition Press on your side and a tribal mindset of supporters egging you on. Damn it! I would show you who the boss is, if it was me.

And you know why Jonathan’s payback is a bitch to Sanusi? Lamido will spend the next few months trying to clear his name over the ‘financial recklessness’ he has been accused of. His credentials have been officially stained. Yes, he would scream that Jonathan is corrupt too but Nigerians have heard that before. Nothing new. What is novel would be the documents which will fly out soon from the Government exposing Sanusi’s hidden deals. That is how politics works.

And let us be clear about this; there is nothing like clean politics. When you are up there, you always fight for your survival. Even those of you working in offices and corporations know how it works.
