Nigerians in Malaysia today took to the streets and confronted Nigerian embassy officials at the Nigerian Embassy on No.85 Jalan Ampang Hilir 55000 Kuala Lumpur over what the protesters said was extortion, torture and abuse of Nigerian nationals in Malaysia by its police and immigration officers.

 The protesters carried placards denouncing the activities of the Malaysian police. When they came in contact with embassy officials they condemned the nonchalant attitude of officials in the Nigerian consulate. They accused the officials of refusing to issue or renew their passports when needed. They said the ambassador has completely abandoned them to their fate leaving the Malaysian police to mistreat Nigerian nationals in the country.

The boy isn’t hers anymore.

Brandy Norwood and her fiancé Ryan Press have officially called it quits and ended their engagement.

“They are no longer together. The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on”, a rep for the R&B singer confirms the news to US Weekly.

Rumours started swirling that the singer and Ryan have split after she was seen without her engagement for months.

Brandy and Ryan were engaged in December 2012.

“They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship. Brandy is 35 now…that’s what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman.

There was confusion in Nchoko Amiri community, Oru East local council area of Imo State, recently when mysterious swarm of bees stung an 83-year old woman, Madam Nwanyiaro Orji to death.

Vanguard reports that, the late Madam Orji went to use the toilet located at the back of the family house when she was attacked by the mysterious insects.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Joe, said they initially thought the noise came from a bunch of ripe bread fruit tree at the backyard.


He said, “The angry bees, which its home had been dislodged, started stinging everybody within the vicinity, including the aged woman’s step-son, who was in the kitchen at the time.”

He added: “This did not work as the aged woman was not agile enough to scamper for safety with her step-son. The boy hurriedly left the scene.”

It was gathered that some youth later organised themselves, bought some cans of insecticide, wrapped themselves properly and dislodged the bees.
Joe said, “After winning the battle against the bees, the young men rescued the old woman and quickly rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where the medical team did everything possible to save her life. The woman died the next day.”

No doubt, Genevieve Nnaji is a delectable actress. An actress who in one fan’s words "oozes confidence whenever she appears in a movie". This said, one must wonder why she is not married like her colleagues in the business especially considering the African notion on marriage. To limit it to our own Nigeria, it is a known fact that a woman in Nigeria who is not married before her 30th birthday automatically becomes the talk of the town.

An elite runner failed to catch her flight home after going missing following the London Marathon.

Mami Konneh Lahun was due to fly home on Monday but did not return to her temporary accommodation in Greenwich on Sunday and has not been seen since.

Ms Lahun 24, of Sierra Leone, is on a six-month visa that was issued on 7 April on arrival, the Home Office said.

An official confirmed all runners who come to the UK to race get these sportsperson visit visas.

However, the athlete is not thought to have any links to the UK and is believed not to have a mobile phone.

On Monday, the Met Police announced Ms Lahun, who finished the women's race in 20th place, had been found safe and well but later retracted their statement.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s findings revealed that Omawumi’s performance fee has risen from N3 million (as at September 2013) to N5 million, depending on the show.

Omawumi is missing from action at this year’s Nigerian Breweries sponsored Star Trek, the biggest music concert in Africa because of her relationship with another brand, Guinness. Sources close to her disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that Omawumi performs, at least six times in a month.

He said several hours later she called and asked him to pick up some bottles of wine and come back to her apartment to deliver them.

When he turned up at the door, she had grabbed him and dragged him inside and demanded sex.

When he refused she pulled out a 10cm knife and forced him to undress, he told the court.

Mr Stan says he only escaped when he managed to barricade himself into a bedroom and dial 999 on his mobile phone.

Mr. Stan, who was visibly traumatized by the unusual experience, later got rescued by the police and taken to the hospital with more than half a dozen stab wounds.

She was initially jailed for five years after a court rejected her claim that she was really the victim.

Some members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, posted as part of security at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, venue of the South-East rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, exchanged blows with some policemen early this morning.

The incident, which happened near the VIP pavilion led to exchange of blows between members of the two security agencies, while the State Security Services, SSS, worked to reconcile the two parties.

President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Working Committee of the party, Governors and other PDP leaders are being expected at the rally.


The members of the NSCDC decried what they called unnecessary intimidation from the police.

A group of women under the umbrella of Association of Concerned Nigerian Women on yesterday protested against what they described as “undue persecution” of Petroleum Resources Minister, Deziani Allison-Madueke.
The women led by the Coordinator of the association, Martha Yaduma, said that various allegations being made against the minister were attempts by some people to undermine women’s aptitude in governance.
“We know our right and we will fight for it; we won’t allow men to suppress our propensity. We have to stop this; enough is enough. We have done our investigation and we can say that some people were just out to victimise the minister without any just course; all allegations against her are not true,” she said.
She noted that: “What people always do is to bring down a woman whenever she is in a high post but we want to tell Nigerians that we are solidly behind the minister.”
The women, who marched to the National Assembly and the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Abuja urged the public to wait for the result of other investigations going on over the activities of the ministry “rather than castigate the minister over alleged misappropriation of oil sector funds”.
She said that Nigerian women had come to speak with “one voice in support of the minister”, and appealed to men to give women a chance.
She described the minister as “a hard working woman”, who worked assiduously for the betterment and improvement of the ministry and the oil sector.
“Women believe strongly in the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan and we will not allow political detractors to rub this administration of its glory,” she stressed.
At NNPC headquarters, Dr Omar Ibrahim, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, who received them on behalf of the minister commended their courage and support for her.
“It is not always easy at this crucial moment to find a group of individuals of your calibre supporting the development at the oil and gas sector.
“It is a demonstration of love to the sector and to the country’s economy as a whole. We believe that with this, Nigerians will begin to understand and see the truth in the oil and gas sector. It is our belief that no matter what happened, the truth will always prevail,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress has asked President Goodluck Jonathan and Peoples Democratic Party to stay away from Niger Delta region ahead of the 2015 general elections, if they know what is good for them.
