The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced the suspension of licenses for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) and two other license categories.

This decision is part of a broader review and restructuring of the telecommunications regulatory framework to better accommodate new industry trends and technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence and 5G services

The NCC initially began the issuance of MVNO licenses to improve telecommunication services and expand coverage to underserved areas in Nigeria.

MVNOs are companies that provide mobile services using the infrastructure of existing network operators without owning the spectrum themselves.

The suspension is likely a temporary measure as the NCC reassesses its licensing strategies to ensure they align with the rapidly evolving technological landscape and industry needs

. This step is crucial for maintaining a robust and forward-looking regulatory environment that supports the growth and health of Nigeria's telecom industry.

The big ones that are paying you want new competitors. Why is it that at this time, Nigerians still don't have unlimited talk and text for monthly bills? Now you will run to UK activities when it suits you but you never come US abi?
