During an interview with Arise News, Osita Okechukwu, Former DG Voice of Nigeria and APC Chieftain, shed light on President Tinubu’s vehicle selection and the promotion of Nigerian-made products. Okechukwu clarified that the President did not acquire any new vehicles for himself and is currently utilizing the existing fleet at the villa. He emphasized that it would be impractical to discard or auction these vehicles.

He said: “Mr President didn’t buy any new vehicle for himself. What he has [is] the vehicles he met in the villa. Unless you expected him to jettison or throw them away or auction them”

Okechukwu pointed out that senior military officers and the police do opt for locally manufactured vehicles. However, he acknowledged that the supply of such vehicles is currently insufficient, which limits their availability to executive members of the government. He cited an instance where the population commission approached the President for census purposes, but the existing number of cars fell short of meeting their requirements.

The interviewer however clarified that the issue is not about supply but the Government’s lack of demonstrated intent to promote made-in-Nigeria products like innoson motors

Corrupt and inept political leaders, that's all. Who do you think  will promote your local industry when  your very self fails to demonstrate their quality and  road worthiness. You're simply reckless with monies you don't owe. You want to live in extreme comfort at work yet ask the  voters to sacrifice. Sacrifice  must start with you all, start using locally made vehicles , this  will not only promise them but  becomes an inward investment. All of drives Japanese made  bullet proof SUCs, why would you care about  road security and you maintain almost a battalion each at your offices and dwellings, so why owuld  physical security of that nation bother you..
