In order for foreign investors to take Nigeria seriously, President Goodluck Jonathan have been advised to make power generation a priority.

Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’edo, Oba Erediauwa gave the advise yesterday in Benin City during the visit of Senior Executives of Course 34 of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

According to him, it was time President Jonathan sit up to do something positive about epileptic power supply and gas flaring in the country, which he said was why he once wrote through Senator Lyel Imoke, the then Minister in charge of Power, advising on gas flaring and how power situation could be improved upon.

The Oba who regretted the continuous communal crisis in Jos, a City he described as once the envy of other parts of the country, also called on the President and those responsible for revenue allocation to States tot wake up from their slumber and ensure that revenue allocation gets to States as at when due.

The Oba also said he regretted the loss of World Bank’s top job by Finance Minister, Mrs. Ngozi Okunjo Iweala, a position which he believed would have helped Nigeria.

He advised the executive members of Course 34 to always give useful advice on policies that will be of good benefit to the government and the people of the country.

The Obayagbona of Benin, Professor Emmanuel Emovon, who was a former lecturer at the Institute when it was newly established, reminded them of the aims and objectives for which the institute was set up, saying the institute is supposed to be a think tank for the federal government.

Earlier in his speech, the Director General of the Institute, Professor Tijani Mohammed Bande told the Monarch that they were at the Palace to interact with the institution and the people. He said the President has told them to consult widely and had assured them that their recommendations will be accepted by the government.

The Director General also told the Oba that for the past five years, the institute had produced materials for the federal government.
