7 killed in Benue by herdsmen

Seven persons have been reported killed by suspected fulani herdsmen in Onmbasha, Gwer West local government area in Benue state.
 
The suspected herdsmen also set 46 houses on fire with property worth millions of naira destroyed.
 
Conducting newsmen round the affected areas the traditional ruler, Chief Daniel Abontse said the attackers came into Gwer West through Doma local government area in Nassarawa state .
 
" They stormed villages in Gwer West at about 6pm---7pm and operated till dawn, shooting and killing people, including women and children " said Chief Abomtse.
 
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Gwer West Sunday Obanje confirmed the incident and said his men have taken control of the area.
 
Gwer local government has been under incessant attacks by fulani herdsmen who have killed more than 50 people since January this year .
