A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of brutally murdering his girlfriend — allegedly using a machete with "This is what cheaters get" scrawled on the blade.

Police arrested Prince Hepburn, 50, following the murder of 42-year-old Nellie Brown Cox in the Bougainvillea Boulevard area of the Bahamas. He is thought to have been her partner, and was found at the scene with slash wounds to his arms. Police claim Hepburn had attempted to take his own life by cutting his wrists and taking some pills. They also say the self-employed contractor has confessed to the brutal slaying. Chillingly, the other side of the blade had "You're next George Sawyer" written on it. Police discovered the grisly scene after they attended reports of a stabbing in the area on April 7 this year.

A report filed by police in the Bahamas read: “As a result a team of homicide investigators and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the scene. “Upon their arrival on the scene officers observed the deceased was lying face up on the kitchen floor near the door with her head in a western direction and her feet in an eastern direction with a cutlass under her right foot." And it went on: “The bed was saturated in blood with a cutlass on the bed with suspected bloodstains. “The words 'Cheata and Liar' was written on both sides of the cutlass.” Hepburn remains in police custody, on suspicion of murder.
