All the workers’ unions at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, went on rampage again yesterday, calling for the head of the rector, Mrs Theresa Akande, over alleged illegal withholding of their allowances and maltreatment of workers.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) during the protest, barricaded the main entrance of the institution and prevented both staff members and visitors from entering the institution.

The protesters alleged that the institution paid a few among the workers, adding that 35 months’ payment was made, out of the 60 months field trips and sundry allowances owed the workers, for which they had already protested more than once, recently.

They condemned the rector for alleged “divide and rule, saying, she was causing confusion and breaking the ranks of the workers.
