Peoples Democratic Party has said it has no agreement with Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko on the October 20 governorship election in the state.

National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar  Mustapha, said this  while receiving  a  Governorship Nomination Form from Chief Olusola Oke.

Oke is the PDP’s candidate for the  election.

Mustapha said no PDP member should support Mimiko, who was a member of the party before he defected to the Labour Party.

The declaration of Mimiko as the  winner of the 2007 governorship election by the Court of Appeal led to the removal of   Governor Segun Agagu, who was the PDP’s candidate for the poll.

Mustapha said, “I have received the form from Chief Oke on behalf of the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur.

“We will win come October. We don’t have any deal with anyone in Ondo State. We will fight hard to win the election. Midnight today, nomination form will be closing. We have only received form from Oke.

“We must stop intra-party squabbles. Let us work hard and deliver the state to our party.”

Oke debunked the claim that the PDP was not popular in the state and would lose the election.

Oke said, “Chief Obafemi Awolowo once said a time would come in Nigeria when all good people would come to one party and that bad people would also join one political party.

“That is coming to pass now as people are moving to the PDP in large numbers in the state. We are relating with those aggrieved in the ACN. We will work together to win the state.

“What is happening in the ACN is the movement of the good ones and I can assure you that we are already relating with the good ones.

“We will relate with them and ultimately we are going to work together to ensure that we liberate Ondo State form the circle of mismanagement and directionless  government come October.”

The former PDP Legal Adviser insisted  that the party had become stronger in the state since he became its candidate for the poll, adding that “what makes the difference between one political party and the other is the personnel involved”.

He added, “Everybody in Ondo State has knowledge of my antecedent; they know that I believe in the development of the environment and the development of the people and as today, the game has changed and the equation has been altered.”

Oke was accompanied  by  former Ekiti State Governor and  the Vice-Chairman of the the party  in the South-West, Mr. Segun Oni; and Chief Oyewole Fasawe among other members of the  Ondo PDP.
