The Katsina state command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deported 100 foreigners from the state for not being in possession of necessary travel documents, the State Comptroller, Umar Bulama said.
Bulama told newmen in Katsina that most of the deportees were citizens of Niger Republic and other neighbouring African countries.
He said that the deportation was carried out after a raid and noted “the raid started last weekend and it would be a routine exercise.” This was just as he assured that the NIS would continue to check the influx of illegal migrants in the country.
The state comptroller who recalled that the Service recently arrested a number of persons for alleged human trafficking in Katsina State and had handed the suspects over to the agency in charge of such crimes for further investigation and prosecution, assured that illegal immigrants would have no hiding place in the state.
