Nigerian paralympics powerlifters have been tipped to do well and possibly redeem the battered sports image of their country as the countdown to the London 2012 Games trickles down.

Baring any circumstances, Nigeria is assured of three gold medals from that event and other participating nations are showing enough respect to the country’s powerlifters.

According an Asian coach, Nigerian powerlifters are some of the best in the world and they stand between his athletes and the gold medals at London 2012.

The Nigerian medal hopefuls include Grace Ebere Anozie. She won  gold in the women’s over 82.5kg at the 2012 FAZZA International Powerlifting Championship, Folashade Oluwafemiajo who is a top contender for the women 75kg title and Daleth Obioma who won silver in the men’s 100kg  at the last paralympics games in Beijing, China.

Nigeria Paralympics Committee Secretary-general, Dr. Frank Thorpe, however, disclosed that the athletes are in high spirit and are not under pressure considering the expectations from Nigerians, after the London 2012 Games debacle by their physically balanced counterparts.
