angesco at 20-09-2012 07:12 PM (12 years ago) (f) Again no one cares what comes into Nigeria. There are laws but it is the makers of the law that break them!! Nigeria is a dumping ground for anything that can pass the porous borders. Anything out of fashion in the west is sold cheaply and foreigners (not just Nigerians) buy in bulk and fly them home. Not all come from charity others are bought at rock bottom prices from car boot sales, or Primark stores and "imported" and sold at steep prices. I read an article about a traditional leader who wants meetings conducted in the local language (which is good) however I would like to know what they wear to such meetings. How traditional is their wear (in and outside of such meetings)? This should also be monitored if the traditonal leader is really wanting to maintain cultural ties!!! papadip at 20-09-2012 09:48 PM (12 years ago) (m) Second hand goods are very lucrative in the western world. You have shops and outlets all over the place in USA, UK, France..etc.. just like in Nigeria. It is a billion dollar plus business. This report is not fair; it says these items were donated for free whereas they were actually sold to Africans by big businesses that received the donations in the west for nothing. Nigeria is huge market in the world and I would categorize this story as a marketing strategy for first hand manufacturers.
You can buy anything second hand in America, and I meant anything you can imagine but they like to point fingers. America is the headquarters of 419 which they exported to us since the 50’s just like the second hand goods. Posted: at 20-09-2012 09:48 PM (12 years ago) | Gistmaniac

Mindcare at 21-09-2012 05:49 AM (12 years ago) (m) It's so shameful to our government when they have international conference because other leaders will be suspecting if they purchase their so called COAT at the second handed clothes market. Naija people like everything second-hand which they also called TOKUNBO...and they use those dust to litter our nation. So sorrrrrrrrrrry for Nigeria Posted: at 21-09-2012 05:49 AM (12 years ago) | Upcoming
