President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday ordered a probe into the killing of 23 students of the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State as well as a retired soldier, a guard and the father of a student by unknown gunmen.

Jonathan gave the directive after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, where members were briefed about the massacre by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayattu Rufai.

He directed security agencies to pursue all leads and ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the massacre.

Gunmen on Tuesday night invaded an off-campus residence of the students and called out the names of their victims from a hit list.

They thereafter executed them one after the other.

The only parent killed was in replacement for his child who was not available.

Presidential Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, told newsmen at the end of the meeting that Jonathan viewed it as “barbaric and shocking.”
