The much anticipated Hip Hop Awards now known as The Headies holds tomorrow in the city of excellence, Lagos. The award ceremony to be held at Eko Hotel and Suites, promises to be a glamourous one as a lot of artistes released chart topping songs in the year under review.
With six nominations, pop duo, P Square looks set to go away with four awards out of the six in the Album of the year, Song of the year, best pop single, Best Collabo, Best R and B-pop album and Artiste of the year along with soul-jazz singer, Bez Idakula also nominated for six awards.
The Hip Pop twin stars with their smash hit singles, chop my money and beautiful Oyinye both garnering international remixes from international acts, Akon and Rick Ross. Bez signed to ace producer, Cobhams Asuquos, C.A.M.P is definitely the man to watch out for.
The 28 year old Alternative Soul singer was nominated for recording of the year, Best R&B single, Best R&B Pop album, Best Collaboration and Best vocal performance. From all indications, Bez will definitely walk away with at least two awards while P Square stands to win about four awards from the six nominations received by them.
They are closely followed by Wizkid, Davido and Ice Prince who have 4 nominations each.
The Next Rated category happens to be the biggest, and everyone is eager to see who gets the brand new car that comes with the award. Competing in this category are Davido, Flowssickk, Praiz, Eva Alordiah. The major contender in this category will be Davido, who has everything going for him due to the major success of his hit single ‘Dami duro’.
D’Banj’s Oliver Twist and Iyanya’s waist twisting dance song, Kukere are nominated for the Song of the Year award. Naeto C, WizKid, D’Banj and Ice Prince compete for the Artiste of the Year award as well as P -Square Part of the highlights of the much awaited event is the live performance of Afro beat musician, Femi Kuti who will also be inducted into the Headies Hall of Fame.
Also to perform are Chidinma, Project Fame star girl, O.B.O (Omo Baba Olowo), Eva Alordia, Damiduro sensation, Davido and others.
